The price was excellent, the staff speaks good english, and location is good, but the best part was how willing they were to accomodate special needs. the travelling party are very tall and standard mattres length in spain tends to be 190cm. The staff really went out of their way to make us as comfortable as possible and we were very happy with the room and our stay in every way. The parking in the basement was also easy to use.

This hotel is a combination of an old hotel and a new hotel, with the superior rooms in the new part only slightly more expensive than the regular rooms in the old part. We didn't know this and stayed at a regular room. It was very cheap and OK, but very dated. The carpets, walls, beds, etc. all can really use an upgrade. The superior rooms look much nicer and are still very cheap.

Agree with a previous poster that soundproofing could be better, but anyone can Google streetview and see it's on a main road; the upgraded 'Gran' part of the building is shiny, but the cheap section has that very advantage - it's cheap. it's a 2 minute walk from Placa Independencia, and placed for any of 4 bridges across to the old town. Good size room, big bathroom, clean, good cotton bedlinen and bath towels. Don't have the €12 breakfast, you can get coffee and pastry for €3 in any of the many (lovely) bakers and patisseries. I've marked average due to the road noise, but on a value-for-money rating it would be good. 12 o'clock checkout and baggage room mean no hassle if you have a late flight out.

The first thing about this hotel is that it is so confusing to have two hotels in the same building. The building shown is both the Hotel Ultonia and the Gran Hotel Ultonia - and in the building you get what you pay for! We stayed for three nights in the Hotel Ultonia - the cheaper rooms - the location is ideal. An easy walk from the station and an even easier walk into the historic centre of the town. The staff were absolutely charming and were helpful in every respect. However this doesn't help with the major failing of this hotel. We booked in and before we unpacked asked if we could move rooms as we could hear every word of the conversation taking place in the room next door. The second room seemed fine at first but that was because there was no-one in the room next door! Later that night a guy spent hours talking on his mobile and again he might as well have been in the the room with us. Despite the fact that we loved the location and so many things about the hotel we decided to move. Quiet neighbours even were an inconvenience but noisy neighbours would make this place impossible. Such a shame.

Our group like the location of the hotel and the amenities it offered. (I read some comments regarding soundproofing and being outmoded- DISAGREE) The staff were eager to insure a pleasant stay. The breakfast was fine, and a good value

Despite staying just one night, we were impressed with the fantastic service, cleanliness of the room and hotel and the location is very central. Hotel staff were very friendly and we we were welcomed despite the length of our stay. I recommend!!
