We stayed in the Hotel Costa Bella for 3 nights 26/09/08-29/09/08, booked via Lastminute.com, very reasonable price including breakfast. Fantastic hotel located near the hospital, about 15/20 mins walk into town or 5 minutes on the L2 bus.

Nice and modern hotel, lovely reception area with outdoor pool and gym. Rooms were immaculate and the staff were very helpful. Really enjoyed our stay, would definitely recommend this hotel in Girona. Nice breakfast in the morning too.

We flew into Girona airport, got taxi to hotel about Euros 25 and this took about 20mins.

We spent the first day in Girona, second day trip to Barcelona by train and then the third day we had a chilled out day in LLanca in the north, 30mins by train. Llanca is on the coast near French border and has a lovely little marina/beach - would recommend a trip here also.

All in all a very good weekend.

The hotel was great. The staff were friendly, the breakfast was fantastic (try the ring doughnuts and the freshly squeezed orange juice) and the left over cakes from breakfast were placed in the lobby for guests to take as many as they want.

Also in the lobby were free tea and coffee making facilities-so you could make yourself a cuppa whenever.

The hotel is very small and it felt like we were the the only guests there. on one occasion we were arond the pool at midday and nobody else was there.

The hotel was very close to Girona's cathedral and many restaurants and bars.

so if you want a short stay in Girona, stay here rather than a bigger hotel

Booked this hotel very quickly on the net then worried as only 3 stars. I Had nothing to wory about. We arrived late but had e-mailed the hotel to inform them. Reception was efficient - no problems. The rooms are not the largest but were clean. White sheets were crisp. Floor was shining. Hanging space adequate. The Bathroom was spotless with a basket of complimentary toiletries. We had a minibar stocked wth soft drinks, beer, cava and savouries all reasonably priced - mostly 3 Euro. There was no safe, tea/coffee and no balcony. Internet was free all day along with free tea/coffee and pastries from 12 noon to 7pm in the reception area. The pool area was small with few sunbeds and table and chairs. Adequate and clean. There was a vending machine at the pool area with cold beers, water etc. again reasonably priced at 2 euros. Breakfast ws not wonderful but I did not leave the table hungry. The warm counter was cold! but there was the usual continental style meats, cheeses and pastries. Location was a 20 minute stroll into the centre - walking was flat. Taxi back cost 10 euros with a tip. Girona town was a delight - narrow streets virtually traffic free, lots of good restaurants and squares to sit and watch the world go by. I booked the hotel through booking.com a double room B+B 98Euros per night. Nearly forgot to mention the hotel has a small jacquzi, sauna and mini gym together with a car park and yes its all free! I will be revisiting Girona and I would have no hesitation in staying at the Costabella. Suitable for the older traveller and families with small children. This hotel is not a posh 5* but is a good base for a few days.

This hotel was one of the best we stayed at in Spain this summer. The rooms are a decent size and the hotel seems very well maintained.
Its location is perfect if you are entering Spain from France. It is slightly less perfect if you are flying out of Gerona airport early in the morning as it is on the "wrong" side of Gerona for the airport so you either have to drive through the city or shoot back towards france about 5 km before you can get on the A7 towards the airport. Either option however only takes about 30minutes.
The reviewers who clain the hotel is a 10 minute walk from the old town must be olympic walkers. It took us closer to 20 minutes and the walk is mostly along a very busy road.(It costs about 9 euros by taxi)
However these small niggles apart the hotel is quiet, clean, has a decent pool to cool off in and the breakfast was excellent (albeit at a steepish 12 euros)
The hotel has air conditioning and the windows have double glazing which keeps out the noise from the road running alongside. It also has a decent gym plus a jaccuzzi and sauna which is surprising for a hotel of this size.
I should also add that Gerona is a fantastic city and well worth at least a couple of days visit at any time of year.

Specifically chose this hotel as it claimed to have air-con throughout the hotel. Sure enough, as you enter the reception the cool air is very pleasant and welcoming. However air-con in the bedrooms is another story!! We were moved rooms and eventually given a portable fan to use in our room but it was a very uncomfortable roasting hot overnight stay. Next morning at breakfast we spoke to at least 4 other couples who also complained about the lack of air-con in their rooms. Only 1 receptionist on duty from early afternoon, no other member of staff even present in hotel until 7pm when a restaurant worker appeared!
My advice: do not go during the hot months June, July and August.

Spent the weekend in this lovely city and the Hotel Costabella is a great base when visting Gerona. We had a quiet, comfortable room, at a very good price. The hotel has a wide range of faciltiies, I would expect that the pool is a real plus during the warmer months.

The breakfast buffet is excellent. A wide selection of fresh fruit, meats and local cheeses, cereal, tortillas and some tasty local rolls. The staff also give that extra effort in being helpful, which does make a difference.

While it is a 10-15 min walk from the old city, parking is easy if you have a car.

Would stay at the Costabella again, when flying into Gerona.
