“Like Finding a Needle in a Hay Stack”

If you find this hotel with no wrong turns from the bus or train station on your first try you deserve a free nights stay. Save yourself frustration unless your up for a Where's Waldo experience and take a cab unless you have a map. That said once you find the hotel it is in an excellent location and if its not considered to be in the Old Town than it borders it. And really only a 10 minute walk to the bus or train station by a diorect route. But even if you get turned around Girona is gorgeous to walk around and deserves more tourism than it recieves.

The receptionist was fantatstic. He provided us with a much needed map and answered all our questions. He also provided us with a free bottle of much needed water after all the markets were closed and for that we are forever greatful. Be aware that most markets and restaurants seem to have very early closing hours for Spain. The receptionist informed us most places close by 8pm.

The room was adequate and clean. Like other reviewers state the beds are not the most comfortable, and the linens are nothing special, but it beats a bus from Barcelona at 3am to catch an early flight. Our only compliant about the hotel was the random noise from outside throughout the night, like someone banging on pipes.

Attractive lobby and that's where it ends. Mattresses that were so thin and lumpy and guaranteed a back ache. Windows opening to airshaft with no air movement. Noisy neighbors with TV on all night. A dreadful night with little sleep and couldn't wait to leave. To be avoided at all cost

Still living through one night in the peninsular. Add a non- working air conditioner to my previous review. I'd ask for a refund but anyone cheap enough to use the toilet paper they use here wouldn't be someone you'd want to deal with. This is a One Star hotel and if you want to know what that means, there is no such thing as a no-star hotel.

I am writing this in my room at the hotel, which has two windows that look out at a blank wall five feet away in an air shaft. When you open the windows, the room fills with the smell of cigarette smoke from the "non-smoking" rooms below. The bed feels like a box spring without a mattress and sags in the middle. The pillows are hard and heavy as cement bags. The toilet tissue is thin individual sheets that are grudgingly dispensed from a tin box on the wall. There are cracks in the wall of this room and the carpeting feels like sandpaper. Even given the location, which is convenient to the old town, I would NEVER recommend this hotel to anyone! It's a dump with a fancy lobby. Go elsewhere or be very disappointed.

Clean, great price, just a 10 minute's walk from most things in town, half an hour at most. Free WiFi that is actually broadband - it really works.

Beds are hard, air conditioning / heating is noisy, and, BTW, this is the 21st century - one spare mains socket in the whole place - and that's in the bathroom. When it's time to rewire, at the very least, should put 2 more sockets by the desk. One on the bedside table for the mobile phone would be great.

Girona. What a lovely City. We arrived in there without any booking, walking in the main pedestrian street looking around. The tourism office indicated that the Peninsular is a good option. The public areas were nice and wormy. Nice decorations, flowers and an intimate atmosphere. That was nice.
The room was rather Spartan. 2 twin beds in a small room without any warmth in the room itself. The mattress was too hard and the pillows were small long, like a sausage. Not very comfortable. The light bulb next to the bed was so soft so it was impossible to read my book. Even the soap in the bathroom was so tiny that you needed a magnifying glass. The towels were small and thin, suffering from too much washing.

However the shutters were electronic and the button was next to the bed and that was very convenient. It was quiet so we slept fine.

I wonder why one could invest so much energy and care on public a reason one hand, neglecting the bed rooms on the other hand?

I really do.

Had a vacation trip and spent 4 nights there. Very good location, all sightseeing, railway station, shopping areas are in a short walking distance. Room was perfectly clean and big enough. Staff was friendly and English speaking. Free internet in the lobby. Breakfast was tasty with a local Catalonia hint. Good value for the money.

Room Tip: Street noise was sometimes heard but higher floors should be quieter.
