“Fine choice in central Girona”
Reviewed 10 October 2012

Very convenient and central location in the old town.

We had what was probably a junior suite with a separate sitting room. Unlike a North American hotel, there was no sleeper couch in the lounge (so not that useful for an additional guest or child) and the furnishings seemed a bit sparse.

We had to unplug something in order to plug anything in, which meant we had to unplug everything to charge up all our tech every day. A few more sockets or a power strip would go a long way.

Our room had several windows with roll-down shutters which looked out over a shopping area. As you would expect, this was very noisy at times. Bring earplugs if you want to sleep in Spain.

There was a separate AC unit in the room, with a 23C (73F) minimum setting, which is perfectly reasonable, but prevented us from cooling the room off quickly before bedtime. TV channels all in Spanish or Catalan. Wifi but requiring a web login and a very slow connection.

We did get a glimpse of some other rooms - some are tiny so check.

Nice breakfast in the hotel. Plenty of options for meals in the area - two cafés right outside the entrance. There is a lift/elevator. Secure parking for cars/bikes/motorcycles across the street.

Room Tip: Check as size varies. Higher is usually quieter in Spain.

The pensinsular is a great hotel - some of the rooms are small...but hey its europe...right in the centre of the town, and walking distance to everything except the can rocca restaurant. probably the best value in the town, free internet terminals (2), we stay 3-4 times a year. Staff that are very knowledgeable and helpful.

As two mature couples we chose this hotel and were not disappointed. Very friendly helpful staff. Clean minimalistic modern rooms. Well situated for old town and many restaurants. Good breakfast. The staff were helpful in directing us to restaurants when we arrived quite late in the evening. Coffee was supplied very late one night by a charming waitress. Some rooms have very little view from windows but not really a problem

Room Tip: No special preference.

My friend and I stayed here in July 2012 for two nights while exploring the region. Girona i a beautiful, quintessential small European town, with quaint narrow cobblestone streets, lovely architecture, th old and new part of town, wonderful climate etc.

The hotel is well located, in walking distance from the train station, although with luggage a taxi would be recommended. From the hotel it's just a short walk to the old city and wall, which must be seen while in Girona. Also round the hotel nearby are several cafes, shops etc, although the majority of restaurants are a short walk away cross the river.

Our stay could not be faulted. The check-in was the most efficient I've ever had in any hotel ever, it is clear the staff simply knew their stuff. The hotel has recently been renovated and looks very fresh and modern, but it was nice to see the architect retain some of the old features.

The rooms were good, very clean, bathrooms were excellent, free wi-fi. I didn't have breakfast myself but my friend said it was quite ok.

If in Girona I would certainly stay here again, I thought I was great value for money particularly for such a convenient location.

Nice room. Clean and comfortable. Very quiet. Helpful staff. Good breakfast with lots of choice and good value. Great location within two minutes walk of the interesting part of the city. Nice little tapas bar nearby too. Free wifi downstairs but not working in the rooms. Maybe a temporary problem.

This is a smart hotel within a stones throw of the Old Town, and close to the bus / train station. The location is quiet, set on a nice tree lined avenue. So nice to hear the church chimes on the quarter and hour during the night.
It’s clean and comfortable with the bedroom so comfortable you spend the evening there. It’s extra clean with startling furnishings. Note the electric shutters.
Service is excellent and the reception staff speak English and happily makes whatever arrangements you may need.
Breakfast is continental and extremely good value at 8 euros. The ground floor has a café / bar / restaurant both front and back. Our lunch in the restaurant was excellent.
The only bad points are no English TV channels and no mirror in the bedroom. This is the petty level of complaint and that is it!
Thoroughly recommended.

We stayed on the first floor which apparently had smarter rooms - and our room was certainly good: clean, large, big bathroom and comfortable beds. I suspect some of the other floors have yet to be renovated judging by other comments here. Hotel staff were very friendly.

Great location and very good value for money. 10 minute walk from the bus/train station; and on the doorstep is the old town,

It has wi-fi on each floor, though this did go down for two of the nights. I do have two gripes - the air-con is vicious and cannot be adjusted, though blankets were available (we still caight colds though); and no button on the remote for the TV to select original language soundtrack for non-spanish programs - I've always had this button in other hotels.

Still, we would definitely stay there again.
