We stopped in Girona on the way from Toulouse to Barcelona in September. The tourist info center set us up with the Peninsular and we could not have been happier. The location is a "10" close to the river and right in the heart of town (which we love; our first time here). The room was huge with super quiet triple pane windows & roll down shutters. An excellent breakfast was served too, with meats and cheeses and several types of bread. The only drawback was the lack of parking. We made the mistake of using a covered city garage; boy that cost us dearly! You can get free parking in several city surface lots.

Very good location for the Plaza Catalunya and the "old town" although parking is a bit of a problem. The hotel have a deal where you park locally and pay 8 euros overnight after 9PM. Not ideal if you are planning to go out in the evening and need to move the car.

The rooms are basic but clean and adequate. Breakfast was simple but plenty of choice. Why do hotels use vending style machines to make coffee when the bars make excellent coffee.

The best asset of the Peninsular are the staff. They are helpful and go out of their way to make your stay enjoyable. English spoken by all the reception staff.

Not luxury by a long chalk, but good value for money and very comfortable.

Wonderful customer service at the front desk, fluent in English. Small rooms but very clean. Worth every penny. This was a great location. Near the train station and the historic district.

Great shopping and wonderful selection of restaurants!

Room Tip: Choose a high floor to avoid noise from party goers on the street in the early morning hours.

Can't fault this hotel in any way. Rooms large and clean, great breakfast. Also very convenient for the old town of Girona. Unfortunately, as with many hotels in Spanish cities, there is no car park. Underground car park a couple of blocks away with discount for hotel guests. (Car park cost 18 euros for 24 hours).

We stayed for one night in a very spacious and well appointed room. The hotel is perfect for wandering about the old town, the breakfast was good and the staff friendly. I would definitely stay here again.

Stayed here a week which is probably why we were given a slightly larger room. Hotel is superbly located and was scrupulously clean, and the cleaning staff were lovely. Room was quite basic with very little storage space and only one power point (for television), but bathroom was quite large and well-fitted. We were at the front which had a lot of street noise - mainly from the very industrious street cleaner trucks which seemed to come three times during the night.
Didn't have breakfast in the hotel but used one of the many cafes a stone's-throw away.
Would certainly stay here again when we next visit Girona as it's excellent value for money and so very accessible for the Old Town, bus station, everywhere .....

Room Tip: Street noise in rooms at the front

Brilliantly located in the old town, a stones throw from the river. Helpful staff, clean, quite large room, recently decorated and a great price....but.....very noisy at night from within the hotel..plumbing, tv's, conversations, footsteps. If we go again will take earpieces for our own music to try to block it out.
