We visited Girona and fell in love with it! It is a scenic historic town well worth spending the time to explore. There are two churches in Girona, the Cathedral and the Bascilica. You can purchase a ticket for both places and you get a tape player to learn of the history. The Bascilica was great, very old , and we were able to take photos without a flash. When we got to the cathedral, everything changed. We were followed around, told no photos of any sort but watched others with ipads taking photos?? This treatment was a bit off putting. If you are paying to see something and want to take photos to remember it; I don't see a problem and if the rule applies to one person and not others that is an even bigger problem. The church was dark, people unfriendly and we were disappointed.

The Cathedral of Girona dominates the city and looking up at it from the bottom of the steps is fantastic. Externally the cathedral is amazing but once inside it is a sight to behold as it has the widest gothic nave in the world.

The cloisters are a worthy detour where there is an exhibition of cassocks through the ages. The entrance fee for the cathedral is EUR7 which includes an audio guide though on Sundays there is no charge to enter.

We were staying close by and only went to this Church by chance. But I suggest you make the effort! Have seen lots of churches, but this one is worth it.

This enormous fortress of a cathedral dominates Girona. Don't miss the attached galleries with all their graphic paintings of catholic persecutions. Best to go during the flower festival when all the steps are steen with flowers. There are good and not too touristy restaurants close to the cathedral.
