Lovely old cathedral. The winding streets up to it and steps in front are spectacular. €7 entrance is slightly steep. I visited 8am in the morning when it is open for worship for free - less crowds and very peaceful

The outside of the Cathedral is quite pleasant, a beautiful front but nothing much else to recommend it.
I totally object to having to pay €7 to pray!
Needless to say, I can't comment on the interior.

It's very beautiful cathedral. The square in the front is very nice to rest. You can even get free wifi. It's lovely to go.

This building is worth a visit for several reasons. The architecture is an amalgam of different styles, techniques and periods but pull the lot together and it works. The stained glass panels are outstanding and span several centuries, with the most recent window from 2012. A few of the panels are very special indeed. The steps to the main entrance remind you why the church was so powerful for so long in this region. The view from the cathedral is both lovely and commanding. Visit the cloisters on a hot day and you quickly learn their merit. The treasury contains one of the earliest, most interesting and beautifully assembled tapestries from anywhere in Europe depicting the creation. We are not a religious couple but there is an intimate spirituality about this place which was quite endearing. We visited early in the day and there was hardly anyone there. That probably helped. I would return to Girona just to view the stained glass, walk around the cloisters , check out the tapestry and feel the space.

You may have to wait a while to get in so it is best to book online in advance especially in the hot weather season. This way you can get an exact time for your visit. There are plenty of cafés around the cathedral if you arrive early.
