A great location in a lovely city well worth a visit. Good reception staff always helpful and very pleasant. Rooms not cleaned until late afternoon and on the last day the lift packed in which meant a really long trek up and down stairs with luggage! Lunch in the restaurant was very good!

This hotel was booked mainly by chance, and turned out to be a very pleasant surprise. The location is fantastic, facilities good, staff helpful, rooms good....step out of the front door and it's only a few steps across to the old town and the Cathedral. Plenty of shopping and history on the doorstep. Wonderful!
Stay again? Definitely!

Our two and a half week driving tour of Northeast Spain including points in Catalunya, Aragon and Navarre, concluded with three nights in Girona, a rich, handsome little city built tightly around its river bend several hours' drive north of Barcelona. Hotel Ciutat de Girona is a new building, discreetly and wonderfully located in the pedestrian precinct of the old town--a street bollard slides down to admit your car for check-in and parking--which makes the neighborhood both bustling and quiet: no auto traffic noise. It is a "business" hotel in feeling and very, very comfortable: the restaurant is fine, doing a good business nightly with people not staying in the hotel. The parking is an underground garage about two minutes walk away: though not open to the public on Sundays, the garage remains accessible to the hotel guests, thanks to the hotel desk which has getting your car out (and back in later) all figured out for you. The public areas, lobby, corridors, elevators are all smartly designed and maintained. Comfort and convenience and a warmly-welcoming desk staff make this a place I would confidently recommend and happily return to.

My wife and I travelled to Barcelona for 6 days and part of our visit was to dine at Celler can Roca, so we decided to stay in Girona for a couple of nights.
Ciutat de Girona was the perfect base to discover Girona. It is situated 2 minutes from the old town, with its great shops, restaurants, architecture and ice cream parlours!

The hotel was situated perfectly for us to see Girona for a couple of days and also to travel to Celler - just a 10 minute cab ride away. It is a small, boutique hotel and very clean and comfortable. We only had breakfast at the hotel, which was very nice, and headed out for wonderful tapas for lunch and dinner - just a few minutes walk away.

There is a very small, but lovely swimming pool in the basement of the hotel, which was lovely to dip into after wandering the gorgeous streets of Girona by day. The staff were very friendly and helpful.

There is parking (22 euros per day) local to the hotel - bear in mind that the entrance is incredibly tight, so make sure you have a smallish car.

If we are ever to return to Girona - and it is certainly worth a revisit, we would definitely head to this hotel for our base again.

Room Tip: We stayed in a standard room and it was perfectly nice.

The Ciutat has some excellent family "suites" that comprise two separate rooms that are behind a shared door which can be opened by the keys from either of the two rooms. This seems ideal for parents and children who are too big or two many to share one family room.

The rooms are very well furnished and finished, very comfortable indeed and, although ours was on the first floor the location is so peaceful that we never heard any noise from outside. The hotel is also in a good position, near to the Placa De Independencia with plenty of good bars and restaurants nearby. The hotel breakfasts aren't cheap but we found an excellent café within 50 metres that had very good food, juice and coffee at very reasonable price.
