“Nice hotel but didnt get a double bed”
Reviewed 8 April 2013 via mobile

My partner and I spent three nights here over Easter. It was a good quality hotel, although we thought the breakfast left a little to be desired for the price. There is a little cafe down the road from the hotel which does a full English breakfast for half the price of the hotels bread and fruit. The room was nice and clean, however we were given a twin room in the smoking area when we booked a double no smoking bedroom. The hotel is in a good location, about a ten minute walk from town although it is up a steep hill so wouldn't be perfect for those who have trouble walking. The check out was at 12pm which is good and the hotel staff are very helpful offering us maps, attractions and how to get to the train station. For the price of the hotel, we would stay here again.

We spent 2 nights here and, although the weather was pretty poor, we still enjoyed the magnificant situation of this hotel. Typical AC style you can find in many places in Spain, but special for this AC was the view on Girona. Good breakfast, friendy staff, all you can wish for. Walking to old town Girona was no more than 10 minutes.
One minor downside: if you sleep in the far end corridor on the street side (rooms 018-026 or so, and probably also upper floor), be alerted that early hours the trashcars will empty the waste glass containers just under your window. Maybe the hotel can ask the ajuntamiento to change the hours of this task.
Overall, excellent value for money.

Preferring to stay a little outside of the old town but close enough to walk there. The advantages of this property is that there is ample parking if you are planning to drive around the Costa Brava region. It is perhaps a 15-20 mins walk to the centre of the old town through some residential areas so whilst not exactly close, you are within walking distance but don't have to deal with the hassle of trying to park your car. The views are great since you are on top of a small hill and the rooms are standard fare. It is also great value of money!

My husband and i stayed at the hotel for two nights and it really couldn't have been any better in terms of comfort and location. The styling is modern and the decoration in the room is lovely - well proportioned rooms capped off with a photo panel of the city. The bed is big and comfortable. I'm not sure our AC was working properly, but the hotel was so quiet that we just opened our window. The only thing i heard was the cockerel crowing in the morning. There weren't many guests staying when we were there so i don't know what the noise levels would be like when its full, but for us it was perfect.

The facilities in the bathroom are great, and its bigger than i was expecting which was a nice surprise. We didn't have breakfast included and were told it would be 12euros per person if we wanted. But to be honest i would recommend that you eat in the city. The locals tend to go to a cafe and have a croissant and cafe con leche, which is what we did both mornings and it will cost you around 5 euros in total.

Reception called a taxi for us one evening when we were going out and it had arrived within 5 mins (and the rates were really reasonable too). The terrace is a lovely place to either soak up the sun, or enjoy an evening drink before going out. Its a spectacular setting and has good views across the city. Check in and out were both very swift and fuss free. The only thing to mention is the city tax which is a euro per person per night. This was payable on departure.

So all in all we loved this hotel, it was absolutely perfect as a base from which to explore the city since it only took around 15 mins to get into the heart of the old town. We hope to return to Girona and when we do, we will be staying at this hotel.

In order to cut our 12 hour driving trip to Spain I noticed that Gerona was actually half way to our destination. Obviously for a 1 night stop I didn't want any surprises and the Marriott name was reassuring. The difficulty was to find the hotel in town as coming off the autopista (turnpike) I had no idea where I was. Tip: the river cuts the town in two so head for the center. There is a hill on your right as well as on your left. You need to go East. Right, you don't always travel with a compass so look up to spot a tall antenna which is probably a radio/television antenna and go in that direction. The small maps I saw on line of Gerona don't give a good feeling for distances. For your information you can walk down from the hotel (ask for a city map at the reception) in 10 minutes. Walking back up the hill is not as bad as it sounds. There is a large pedestrian zone in town and we didn't see any parking places so it is an incentive to walk.
The hotel is all which was said before: a very nice building facing town with one floor and 2 hallways of rooms perpendicular to the view. We were above the parking at the entrance (no view) but not bothered by any noise. Service (reception & bar & breakfast) were excellent and room large and clean. What more can one ask for the price ?

Last time was perfect as always.
The staff is very nice and helpful, always.
Room service is pricy and limited by OK.
View from the terrace is brillant.
The rooms are OK but a bit too noisy (soundproofing of the door is too weak).
Wifi is expensive if not a gold member and very eratic.

The view from this hotel is amazing as it is located on a hill looking over Girona - you can even see the surrounding mountains in the distance. Unfortunately we were told almost none of the rooms have this view, apparently to encourage guests to spend more time out of their room and relaxing on the beautiful terrace. Or more specifically, to encourage guests to spend more money while relaxing on the beautiful terrace! Despite the staff being very friendly and helpful, I came away with the feeling that the longer I stayed at the hotel, he more money I would end up spending. However, I was pleased with the room as it was clean, modern and spacious. Although we did not open the curtains due to a lack of view, and privacy, we found it comfortable.
The initial reason we chose the hotel was for the wifi service in the rooms, but were then told we would have to pay for it. After promptly receiving a login card delivered to the room, we then had to spend some amount of time trying to set up the connection. We also discovered that two devices (eg. Laptop and iPad/iPhone) could not connect at the same time. On top of that, every time we switched on a device we had to go through the whole connection set up process again.
