“Nice Hotel”
Reviewed 20 May 2014

When the satnav was directing us to the hotel we were in disbelief that there was a hotel up on a hillside in a typically Spanish residential area. But there it was a large glass modern building at the top of the hill beyond the housing area. What strikes you are the views from the hotel which are beautiful as you can see across the whole city. The reception staff were pleasant and helpful and the room was very nice, modern and well designed. I slept very well on the comfortable bed. The breakfast which was overlooking the terrace and the magnificent views was ok, continental and not a great variety of food but fine for one morning. It is a ten minute walk to the city centre which is ok going downhill but a bit of a hike on the way back. The city to the east side of the river is very beautiful and the architecture is spectacular. The hotel was fairly empty when were were there, we only seen three other guests on our one night stay, and there didn't seem to be any free wifi in the rooms, only in public spaces. Overall we were satisfied with the 4 star quality of the hotel in this very pretty city.

Very nice option - there for golf in the region

Awesome terrace rooms excellent and well equipped, but no tea/coffee in room - however lack of restaurant Sunday/Monday was not good - dined in Saturday day of arrival 65 euros meal for two, had to walk out Sunday have reviewed separately what we found
Monday took room service - asked if we could have this in bar / terrace area but this was not possible?! Have to ask why? would have saved trolley service and incrased bar sales

Disappointed to find broken glass on floor 7am one morning - breakfast open and went to collect a coffee

Possibly being picky but in the trade and if manager would not be happy if staff not picked this up

Room Tip: Outward facing the inward look to other rooms

This is an attractive option in this under-rated city, especially for a stop-off before a morning flight. It's modern, spotlessly clean and wonderfully quiet. It's a great location, about a ten-minute walk from the start of the Ramblas in the Old Town (the hotel's own website says 20!), which is where you go to eat. The hotel is up quite a steep climb, so not for the infirm! It's well signposted and easy to find. Car parking is plentiful and free. This is not much more, frankly, than a place to lay your head. The bar is dead (except, I imagine, when there's a conference in residence) and arranged like a school classroom. There's a great view over the city, of course, shared by some (though not all) of the bedrooms. Breakfast is perfunctory. Getting anything cooked (even fried eggs) can be an initiative test. The machine tea and coffee are frankly dire. The bedrooms, though, are first class, large and comfortable, with huge beds, splendid bathrooms and a decently-sized bath (distressingly, an increasing rarity!). There are no frills. Toiletries are scarce. There's no tea and coffee making facility. Perversely, in our room, the only mirror was on the back of the room door away from the lights. If you're in town for a short stay and need a decent night's sleep, this will tick the box. it's an easy drive out to the airport in the morning - provided you know the way. There are startlingly good deals readily available on the internet.

Room Tip: Ask for a view of the city (front of the hotel).

The AC Palau is located on the top of what may be the highest hill in Girona. It has a sleek, modern look, with views of Girona from the terrace. Since our last stay in this hotel several years ago, it has been taken over by Marriott. Overall, we were moderately pleased with our stay. Here are the pros and cons:
Pros: large rooms, quiet, comfy bed, great breakfast, comfortable and spacious lobby, ample parking.
Cons: Although not a problem for us, the 15-20 minute walk to the hotel from the town requires navigating a long, steep hill. A guest with mobility problem should be prepared to drive (although parking could be a challenge in the town proper) or take taxis. The town itself is charming, and where all the non-hotel eateries and attractions are. Front desk service is mixed. Receptionists are pleasant and staff helpful. However, our request for an adapter (to plug in a laptop designed to US electric connections) could not be met. Staff didn’t know where the adapters for guest use were, how many they had, or even where we should go to buy an adapter. (One place in the town was recommended, but it had no adapters fitting US standards.) We had no problem borrowing adaptors for US electronics in every other hotel in which we stayed, none of which were US owned, during our trip to Spain and Paris. And this is a Marriott, a symbol of the most American of American companies!
Inside facing rooms have views only of the exterior of inside rooms in the adjacent wing, missing out on the pleasant views the location has to offer.

We stayed one night at AC Hotel Palau de Bellavista by Marriott in Girona. I wish I would have stayed more time there. The views of the city are amazing, not only from the courtyard but from the rooms as well. It is modern, new and very nicely decorated. The room is very large, and there is a nice detail on the bathroom wall. The service is excellent overall: front desk staff was always smiling and willing to help. Breakfast was very good too. Ideal hotel for a romantic getaway.

Room Tip: Ask for a room overlooking the city

Clean and tidy hotel hotel but the ladies at the reception are a nightmare. If assitance is needed there is no effort to help. Had to argue for hours to get my phone back, which was left behind in the room.

Room Tip: Rooms are nice, but the personal not trained well. Specially the Reception.

Visited this hotel for 4 nights in April. The hotel has a very nice view of Girona! The walk to the centre is about 10-15 minutes. If you have knee/walking problems, this might not be the best hotel for you as it is quit a climb up from Girona centre back to the hotel.

Rooms are very nice designed in Girona-style! They have enough space and have the things you need. It would have been nice to have a small water boiler in the room to make some tea/coffee.

Wifi is free, but terrible in the rooms, good in the public area's. As others before me, I also missed a pool. It would have been nice to have a pool with a view on the 'roof'-terrace outside. :-)

We also thought the breakfast was to expensive, that's why we chose to buy some bread/croissants at the supermarket.

Overall, we had a really nice stay!
