“Amazing view, really spiritual mountain, definitely worth the hike”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 15 June 2014

Very windy at the top - make sure you have a jacket. Not a very rocky trail - not much scrambling, most of it is a quite clearly carved out path/trail, but the view is spectacular and the feeling of peace and serenity on the way and at the top is really worth it.
You can either take the St Joan funicular from Montserrat and hike up from there or hike up from Mountserrat itself and do a whole loop. The whole hike takes a good 3-4 hours.
There were loads of people on the mountain and it felt very safe (I was hiking by myself).

“Enjoy the silence!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 2 June 2014

Montserrat is a sacred place not only because of it's monastery.
If you are ready to accept a challenge, if you feel fit enough for a long walking up and then back down, you should dare and reach San Jeroni! It's worth your time and physical efforts if you like wild nature, delightful silence and if you dream about most beautiful tops of the world. San Jeroni is certainly one of them, and it gives you inspiration, energy and unforgettable memories, which you can fix by taking pictures of stunning views all along your way up and down. Highly recommended for active and healthy adults. Don't forget to take enough water with you - there are no shops or cafes up there! And you should care about comfortable shoes! You better begin with the journey to San Jeroni and finish with monastery later, when most of excursion groups leave Montserrat, so the place is not as overcrowded as it is in the morning time. Bon voyage!

“Just Spectacular”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 23 May 2014

Definitily worth the journey to see all the sites of these amazing mountains. After taking the funicular up the mountain from the abbey we headed for a hike- the paths are gravel so take good walking shoes. The scenary is spectacular. Well worth the heat. Make sure you take plenty of water and sunscreen.

“Great for nature lovers”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 14 May 2014

If you want to escape the craziness of Barcelona, it is a wonderful way to spend a nice day. Get up early, take the train, which leaves hourly from plaza d'espania in Barcelona and roughly an hour later you arrive, take the cable car and then when you are the monastery take another train up. Prices are reasonable calculate 30 euros for this trip for transportation. Go on a day with good weather as you might after a walk of 1,5 hours get to a place where you can see the Pyrenees and the sea.
