“Excellent value!! Highly recommended”
Reviewed 14 August 2014 via mobile

Stayed a week at Calipolis - was able to accommodate a late change to my booking even in high season.

Unparalleled location - highly recommend a sea view room, with good sized balcony and stunning views of the beach and promenade.

I did not utilise the gym / restaurant - however the breakfast was on a par with 4+ star establishments in Spain - a good selection of various foods and drinks, all fresh and replenished. Was a very well executed breakfast offering - could rival 5 star accommodation in major metropolitan cities in terms of breakfast.

Room size and amenity was good value for money - it was simple, clean/tidy beach front accommodation.

Reception was well attended, including security.

Room service was very professional and flexible re timing (cleaning right up until late afternoon).

Highly recommend this hotel as an affordable mid-range beach side accommodation with a view. Superb location relative to beach / restaurants / shopping and night life.

For the price, Calipolis represents compelling value for money.

This hotel has gone downhill the last couple years. Paint is peeling, customer service in lacking, housekeeping is horrible, and it smells (not in a good way).
First impressions count, and one can't help notice the odour when walking into the lobby or the hallways. Luckily the rooms did not smell.
Second, on the first day housekeeping did not replenish any of the toiletries so I called to ask for more. But they came with only half the items. It is obviously not a priority and perhaps they will get the point and be better tomorrow. No better on days 2 and 3. On day 4, they did not even replace dirty towels. So I called the front desk. Once again only a couple items were replenished so I pointed out to housekeeping all the items that were missing. She stormed out and with my door closed I could still hear her mumbling in Spanish as she stormed down the hall. She didn't come back so I called again. This time they brought the remaining items, including a half used bottle of lotion that looked like it had been pulled out of a dirty toilet. When I took the bottle to the front desk and told them how disgusting it was, the only reply was that they would talk to housekeeping. No apology, nothing!
And in general the state of the hotel is in dire need of some maintenance.
We have been a loyal customer of Hotel Calipolis for the past 10 years. But it is now obvious that they no longer want or deserve our business. Next year we will book one of the highly rated hotels or AirBnB.
On the positive side of things - it is the best location for the gay beach across the street.

The hotel is, in my opinion, in the best location for a beach hotel. Literally opposite the beach. For those that are looking for the "gay-beach" it is directly opposite. I would recommend that a sea view room as opposed to a mountain view room, as the mountain view rooms do not have balconies. The breakfast is more than adequate, and there is plenty of selection of food. The only small criticism that I may have is that the pool could be a little larger taking into account the number of guests the hotel can accommodate.Having said that, the beach is just 50 metres away!

Hotel was nice, decor was modern and the place looked very clean. Had a room on the 7th floor with a large balcony and amazing sea views. I don't know whether they have upgraded the sound proofing but I didn't hear anything from our neighbours. Wifi was okay but not great and the breakfast was good but I've had better. The only real complaint I had was the incredibly foul smell in the lobby and corridors. They obviously have an issue with their drains and really need to get it sorted out, it was bad enough to put me off staying here again which is a shame because the rest of the experience was positive.

You can walk to everything from here. Walls were thin, could here neighbors talking and moving around. We made the mistake of asking for a high floor which gave us a small room and small balcony. The lower floors are much larger. There was an unpleasant smell in the lobby the whole time. The decor was trying to be trendy but felt more institutional. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. I was told by other people we met that it is the nicest hotel in Sitges.
When we checked in I had to pay for the entire stay and we were not booked under a prepay rate. I thought this was odd, especially when they have my credit card on hold.

Room Tip: Go for a sea view on the 7th floor.

We stayed here for 2 nights in August 2014.

On check-in, staff were very friendly and accommodated, without fuss, our on-the-spot decision to stay an extra night. To our pleasant surprise, the lovely lady who checked us in upgraded our seafront room to a seafront suite.

Hotel Calipolis is in a prime Sitges location, directly opposite the beach and promenade and a string of restaurants is close by. It's also an easy walk to the town centre and Sitges' delightful narrow streets.

The Hotel has a free beach towel service. There's a 10EUR refundable deposit per towel. Our room, on level 1, had free WiFi but it was extremely slow.

We caught a RENFE train from Barcelona city to Sitges (transport Zone 1-3, which costs 4,10EUR), a trip that takes about 35mins. We then caught a taxi to Hotel Calipolis from the train station at a cost of 6,45EUR, but the Hotel is within an easy walking distance of the station.

The rate for our room was not cheap, but we did stay during peak season.

Our only criticism of our suite was that it had no cups or teaspoons for coffee or tea. We have stayed in many hotels and even basic ones have such inclusions. While our stay at the Hotel was short, not once was a room cleaning service offered or given.

These criticisms, however, do not detract from the fact that Hotel Calipolis is a quality hotel. We would highly recommend it to those who are lucky enough to visit beautiful Sitges.

In July 2014, my wife and I had the pleasure of staying at this hotel for two nights. The location can't be beat. Steps to the beach and a very short walk to a number of bars and restaurants. Our room was a very good size with a great balcony overlooking the beach. I would definitely stay here again.
