Spent 10 nights here with my wife and 2 year old, and have to say that I enjoyed it immensely. A business hotel which is very family friendly. Travelled into Sitges from Barca Airport using the MonBus and then got a taxi from near the bus stop (approx €8). A brilliant start to the holiday - the taxi driver was very friendly and gave our little boy a toy digger he had lying around in his car as a present!

On arrival to the hotel we found the reception staff and porter service to be friendly and welcoming.

The family room we stayed in was large and well decorated with comfortable beds and a big power shower. The view from the hotel balcony made the room for me - waking up looking out to the med, mountain and train line was perfect, especially as we have a train fanatic little boy! The balcony was safe and secure too.

There's no family entertainment on a night time but this was not an issue as there is so much to see and do. We had a couple of trips into barcelona (must say a massive thank you to the hotel staff who let me use their computer and helped me book camp nou tickets) - train station 15mins walk or approx €6 by taxi. Train into barca approx 25mins.

The town centre is a 15mins walk and when we arrived it was the main Sitges religious festival (Festa Major) so plenty happening. The festival aside it is a beautiful town and you can just wonder aimlessly about the main streets, promenade and side alleys (although some steers are not pushchair friendly but manageable).

The nearest beach to our hotel was Balmins (approx 3mins walk) - a small nudist beach but plenty of families present too. There are two cafe/restaurants next to the beach - La Caleta was our favourite with their €5.50 continental breakfast special. Extremely good value.

Back to the hotel - the pool was a decent enough size and the outside bar area which served food was nice. Free wifi was a definite positive!

Negatives for me - room could have benefited from having a kettle, tea and coffee, a bigger bin would have been nice, especially with our messy boy, gym price was expensive and ought to have been included in the hotel stay. Not too many bad things to say though.

A lovely stay and will definitely be coming back!

Dear GeordieDas

Thank you very much for taking the time to share your well detailed comments about the hotel and Sitges. It´ll surely be very useful for future travelers.
In relation with your comments about the gym, I just want to highlight the fact that it costs 7€/day and person, and it covers the whole day. You can come in and out of the gym as many times as you want, and it includes the use of the Jacuzzi, the indoor swimming pool, and you are even entitled to participate in in directed classes.
We hope this information will be useful for you’re next visit to Meliá SItges

Thank you again for you kind words and we hope to see you again

Booked a last minute trip to Sitges and stayed at the Melia. A large hotel about 15 minutes walk from the town, but a walk was good after spending all day around the pool. Breakfast was brilliant - so much choice. We had lunch here too (we really wanted to rest and relax) and each day was really good. Great service, very helpful staff in every area of the hotel. I'll be back.

Room Tip: We asked for and got a pool view.

I was abit concerned about the hotel reading previous reviews being a fussy traveller and it being a special trip for myself, husband and 2 year old boy.

But we loved it! Rooms were spotlessly clean, had a lovely sea/hill view at back of hotel. Entrance, bar and pool are wow. Used the gym quite a lot which is slightly expensive at 7 euros a day.

Out and about the port is fantastic for food! 3 mins walk away.

There is a large Carrefour just a few minutes away now which is great for provisions.

We spent quite a lot of time at balmins beach, if you aren't offended by the nudists. And la caleta restaurant just above the beach is fab, doing a brunch for 5.95 including ham, cheese, croissants, coffee, juice to name abit!

Then the walk to the old town is really lovely on a warm evening with a breeze off the sea. Stop for a cocktail at Vivero with amazing views!

Def be back!

Overall the hotel was great with a lovely atmosphere, the rooms were very clean and had all facilities needed for a stay of 12 days. Wifi connection in room 508 was poor and had to stand in the hallway by bedroom door to get a good signal. Shower had no door on it which meant water went all over the bathroom floor if you were not careful with the shower but the shower itself was great. Staff at the hotel were very helpful and dealt with any issues immediately. Pool side staff who went to get you drinks were much too slow to get your drinks that was if you could get them to go and get them for you. Sometimes we waited over half an hour before we saw her again.

Had a delightful room on 6th floor with gorgeous views of the sea from our balcony. Room was incredibly clean and housekeeping top notch. Bed very very comfortable and bathroom exquisite; shower fantastic. Reception staff very friendly and service throughout the hotel very professional - customer service at its best. If I had to make any criticism it would be that I would like a hospitality tray in room so I could have a cup of coffee or tea as soon as I woke up in the morning; ability to watch movies in room (pay per view) or DVD player would be appreciated too. These points would not however stop us returning - looking at dates for next year right now! Would highly recommend Room 679.
