“Not as good as last year”
Reviewed 3 August 2014

Stayed last year and LOVED this hotel. Arrived today and a very different and disappointing experience. Called reception for iron - never arrived. Spa pool was complimentary last year but is now €15 per visit. Beach towels now require €20 deposit and flimsy piece of cheap cloth. Still a nice hotel but experience well below last year..

The hotel clerk started with saying that check in was at 3pm when our confirmation document said 2pm. Bad start.
We asked for a high floor and we were given floor 1. We were told the wait would be another 20 minutes for a room on the second floor. So we took the room on floor one but once we saw the room we thought it would be too noisy. So we went back down and the hotel clerk (Arnau) simply sighed when we told him we wanted to change. Definitely unprofessional and definitely not felt welcome in that hotel. At least the service at the sky bar was very good.

This new hotel benefits from being in an ideal location in Sitges, very close to the beach and town centre. Its chief asset is the staff: unfailingly professional, friendly and helpful. The 7th floor sky bar has glorious panoramic views across all of Sitges. There are some design issues in the bedrooms: insufficient space near the wardrobes to manoeuvre easily and lacking adequate lighting; security safe (free) on the floor, so not easy to access; insufficient provision of towel rails and ledges in the bathrooms. But there was a separate WC, a good shower an separate bath. Could do with additional English speaking TV channels - perhaps Sky News. Very good breakfast provision. Thanks to all for a lovely stay.

I had high expectations for this hotel, however I was disappointed. No free bottled water in rooms, no tea and coffee making facilities. I wouldn't stay here again. Additionally, despite the hotel being relatively new, communal areas and the rooms already feel tired.

Spent 8 lovely nights in Sitges on holiday. Booked the Avenida Sofia Hotel as it is a new, four star hotel (what could be wrong). The hotel met our expectations perfectly. Decent Superior (standard) room and a bathroom large enough for two to use at the same time. Double sinks and a large, walk-in shower are always nice when a couple shares a room. You are only stumbling distance to the best beach in town and a stone's throw from strolling through the old town. We would have no qualms about staying here again.

This hotel is the most plastic hotel we have ever been! The wall paper was plastic, the flooring was plastic, the head board of the bed was plastic, and everything in the shower, toilet and entrance area was plastic!

No where in the room is there a full size mirror and there is absolutely NO storage space in the bathroom!..not even a shelf!

No coffee or tea making facilities in the room and there is no complimentary water bottles even in the deluxe rooms where we stayed in.

The room has a French balcony with flowers outside in stead of having a terrace but the flowers were not watered and were half dead at the beginning of summer! Pity!

Unfortunately, there are lot of places where the plastic cover is starting to let go and the maintenance of the hotel seems to be so-so!.. you would notice water leaking under the bath door!

The staff on the top floor is friendly. It's a nice atmosphere at the roof top. The breakfast was OK but little chaos and not being fulfilled enough.

This hotel is just one and a half year old, yet, it is getting older and tired so fast due to the strange design and lack of maintenance!

The Spa was fine, but lacking hot Jacuzzi and there is also water leaking from the shower.

Not sure to be back to this hotel unless they do something different!

Just a weekend stay found us waiting for ages at check-in and being ignored until finally some help came. There were others in the reception area but they were too busy playing with their new walkie-talkie 'toys' to bother about customers.
The room was nice and comfortable. well appointed and no complaints. aircon worked well and could be turned of if needed. We didn't opt for breakfast as it seemed way too expensive and the reviews on this site seemed to indicate it wasn't worth the money. Half the price gets you a hearty breakfast and decent coffee just around the corner.
The biggest disappointment was the Sky Bar which despite being residents has controlled entrance by a pathetic security guard who communicates via walkie talkie with another goon on the roof bar. We were not permitted to go up and in fact at one point he wouldn't even let us use the lift to go to our room. In the end we decide that we would ignore his ridiculous attitude and just go up anyway. When we got there we were amazed to see vacant tables and the place only half full. what a joke! The cocktails were OK but a visit the next evening revealed that they were unable to mix a decent Bloody Mary, let alone know what a Cosmopolitan might be. Shame though as (when the music is not too loud and the service on the ball) this is a nice place to be.
Would we go back - probably not - The Calipolis or la Nina will be the likely choice next time.
