This was our first time in Sitges. Hotel was recommended by a friend. Sitges is a beautiful, and classical Spanish resort, so don't expect Benidorm or Gran Canaria. Narrow streets, with most hotels only 40 to 50 bedrooms. We thought Sitges summed up 'Spain' in the traditional sense. We arrived in Barcelona Airport, and caught the train down to Sitges. 3 Euro each for the 40 mins journey. Hotel about a 15 minute walk from the station.
The Hotel is superbly located on the sea front. Check-in was efficient, and our room was on the 4th (of 5) floors. There are very few rooms overlooking the sea, so our room overlooked the pool and narrow streets at the side/rear of the hotel. The view was a bit built up, but, we tend not to spend the whole holiday looking out the hotel bedroom window! The rooms on the first floor (ground level with pool) did not, to be fair, have the best views, all had security gating covering the whole balcony area. I would request a room on least the 2nd and above floor level.
Room - large bed (Kingsized plus single bed together), high quality cotton sheets, large screen LCD TV but MTv, CNN, and BBC World only english programmes, but again who goes on holidays to watch TV! Had kettle (only tea bags and sugar supplied), plus fridge, but with supermarket in nearby street. Bathroom functional, with power shower, and supplied toiletries. We found an electrical multi-socket near the tv, and a single socket on the headboard. Rooms had safes (local deposits). Wardrobe and drawer space good. Free WiFi, but needed to get access password, daily from reception.
Breakfasts, as said in other reviews, were very good and extensive, and ran from 08.30 to 12.00. Alcoholic drinks such as Cava, Vodka and Orange, Bloody Mary's were free, fruit juice (from machine) and coffee (from machine), bacon, scrambled, boiled and fried eggs, then continential food, cheese, meats, salmon, then sweet dishes, i.e. jelly, custards etc. Large selection of breads were provided. The hotel had a set evening meal for residents for 14 euro which was good for three courses. The 'hidden gem' is the roof top (5th floor) bar. Part outside on a large balcony, part indoors. The outside area has a panaramic view over the beach and sea, and towards the Church on the harbourside. Lovely way to start or end a night! The bar prices were better then the bars and clubs in the area. Sitges has a massive array of restaurants, bars, clubs - literally something for everyone. Sitges is a 'gay travellers destination' so a lot of gay visability, in the beach (gay area), and (gay) bars and clubs.
It is expensive to eat and drink here. In the bars/clubs expect to pay 3.50 euro for a beer, and 7 euro for a spirit and soft drink. Most main meals worked out to be 12 to 25 euros.
However, all in all we thought the hotel and resort to be fantastic. We will return.
