We wanted a few days at the beach but get easily bored, so the Nuria was an ideal base as it is a 5 minute walk from an excellent beach and 20 minute or short bus ride into Tarragona which has lots to see and do. The hotel is clean, modern and well furnished, beds are comfortable, bathrooms adequate and I think all rooms (or certainly most) have balconies. First floor balconies are wider with sun loungers, floors 2 and 3 have chairs and table only but better views, especially at the back of the hotel facing the sea as the railway line is on an embankment so probably blocks the view of the sea from the first floor. Air con was quiet so we kept the balcony door shut at night so no noise from the rail line. Hotel staff are efficient and although they seemed a little reserved, I felt this was due to limited fluency in English. However they are helpful - we reported a dud bedside lightbulb and the manager immediately looked for a replacement but did not have the right one. We suspected that would be that but within an hour the job was done. The beach has 3 beach bars that do good food and have toilets for customers (the public toilets at the beach are either locked out of use or have no lock so take someone to guard the door!) but there are no sunbeds or umbrellas to hire. Nuria will loan umbrellas and beach towels free of charge (for a returnable deposit) if you ask.
We had breakfast included and this is described as buffet breakfast. However during the week this is served in the cafe called "Provisions" where you select as much as you want from a menu that includes cereals, cheese, ham, egg & bacon, fruit, etc. The waitress had as little English as I have Spanish (and I know zero Catalan which is spoken here) so pointing to the menu was advisable but sometimes she went off before I had finished selecting. The whole process was rather chaotic and items did not usually arrive in the order I would have chosen from a help yourself buffet, eg croissant first, egg & bacon (which my husband says was very good) after. At weekends there is a help yourself buffet breakfast served in the restaurant which had been closed until then. Perhaps it is open more in peak season? We did not eat lunch at Provisions during our stay but ate there twice in the evening. You select what you want from the counter and it is heated in a microwave but was nonetheless delicious and the desserts superb. Also if you want to eat earlier in the evening than is normal in Spain, their hours are better suited to English habits. The bar restaurant next door is also worth a visit if you don't want to walk to town.
I would definitely recommend the Nuria and would happily stay there again.

Room Tip: We requested a high floor with sea view and got it. There are 3 floors, top floor has best view as higher than the railway line that runs the length of the coast.

Reasonable, spotless clean, great views, great service and great location. Travelled and stayed here after a long drive with a disabled passenger. Could not have been made more welcome after being badly treated at a so called four star Husa last wed night. Thank-you will stay and recommend again.
Well done!

Room Tip: ask for sea view on second floor

Our family of 4 (including two teenagers age 15 and 13) stayed at this hotel for 3 nights in July. We had two connecting rooms, each with their own bathroom so had sufficient space. The rooms connected through a hallway, that was unfortunately where the cleaning staff had to go in the morning to get the linens so we felt like we did not have full privacy. We each had balconies but could only see a little bit of the water. Location was good since it was close to the beach and a bus ride into the town. There was not a full service restaurant for dinner and no restaurants near-by that we wanted to go to so felt compelled to go into town for dinners (it is a beautiful town). Breakfast at the hotel was adequate. You can order eggs to order and there was a basic buffet with cheeses, cereals etc. I don't think there is much choice of hotels in Tarragona so if you want to be near the beach, this is probably your best bet. The beach is beautiful by the way with Carribean-like sand. The hotel was clean and service was adequate although most of the staff speak very little English. We would recommend this hotel.

A family-run hotel with 54 years of history, clean, comfortable, quiet, modernized. A wonderful restaurant-Provisions-serves full lunch including starters, main dishes (Catalan cuisine), pastry, ice creams, coffee (Illy) and tea for not more than 12, 89 per person. Permanent choise of locals shows the level of the place.

Room Tip: the 1-st floor rooms have got wide balconies with wooden sun-loungers.

Nuria is a lovely, simple hotel. It felt as though the communal areas have had a very recent update and so it's quite funky in the reception/lounge area. Our room (105) was basic but comfortable and clean. We had a spacious balcony with a sunlounger on it. Don't expect any fancy extras in your room like a mini bar, although there is a fantastic gourmet shop next door, called Provisions, which sells very nice stuff. Breakfast was delicious and plentiful.

At one stage, the air conditioning in our room broke down but when we reported this, it was fixed within a couple of hours. Staff were helpful and courteous throughout the duration of our stay.

Please note that this hotel is in excellent location right next to the beach but if you want to get into the city centre of Tarragona, then it is a 15-20 minute walk. We thought the walk was very pleasant but it would be best not to attempt it during the heat of the day, as it is uphill. Buses run regularly into town, at a cost of €1.30 for a single ticket.
