Stayed there for 4 nights on a recent buisness trip, room was clean and had a comfy bed, bathroom was small and really tiny shower within the bath, breakfast was also pretty good, at less than a 100 euro per night it was good value.
Pool and bar area is clean and modern but the rooms are a little bit dated, 5 mins walk from the town centre and even less to get to the beaches.
If you need internet..................forget it!! wireless was hopeless, pointless, useless!
The Astari is a really nice option for a few nights in Tarragona. It's a great location, 5 minutes walk to the local beach and 5 minutes walk to the Old town. The reception staff are really helpful and speak english, the restaurant staff are are really friendly and efficient, although breakfast is a little basic but adequate. I had a room overlooking the pool, which was reasonably large with a good size balcony, the bathroom is small with a shower over the bath but it's OK and they did have good bathroom amenities, restocked daily. The great thing about this hotel is the great swimming pool and sun terrace, a gem of a find in Tarragona. The Astari is not a flash hotel, it's somewhat basic but what it lacks in character it makes up for in location and the friendly staff. If i came back to Tarragona i would definitely stay here again.
Our hopes for this three-day trip was to get some beach time, some culture, good food, and hang out by the pool. All of these expectations were met up by Astari Hotel.
Like: the perfectly sized refrigerator and the 5 minute walk to the supermarket Mercadona to buy gluten free food. The clean pool and the drink service there from the lovely staff. The rooms were spotless and clean. It takes you no longer than a few minute to walk to the closest beach. Ten-or-so minutes to walk to the old city. 25 minutes to the port. 20 minutes to the city center.
Dislike: personally nothing, but I think that it would be tricky to stay here for someone who has problem walking and that doesn't have a car. Taxi in Tarragona is very expensive, and the bus outside of the hotel will only take you down town.
The staff were so friendly and helpful from the day we arrived. We had some great meals and they recommended a beautiful wine.
It is within easy walking distance from the old town and the beach.
Shame there is no safe in the room.
My recent stay at this hotel was great, the staff were all brilliant, nothing was too much trouble, from booking taxis, finding out about local services and mixing great gin and tonics ! The breakfasts were really good, great selection and the evening meals were tasty, varied, well presented and served by a very friendly and helpful group of waitresses. I was in group of 20+ people and we all enjoyed our stay at this hotel very much. The pool was a great favourite and there are plenty of places to enjoy the sunshine or find a quiet shady corner. Something for everyone !
It is well placed, only a walk away from the very interesting town, we had a great guided tour of Tarragona , and learned a lot about its history . Very enjoyable.
Hotel is near the beaches and the old town (both walking distance).
We found the person at reception most helpful, suggested places to go etc and he had good English. Was also very patient when I had trouble getting the garage door to open (in hindsight maybe I turned the power to the door off - sorry)
Room was comfortable, we didn't use the pool but it looked nice.
