“Great Catalan buffet -- just note the opening hours during winter”
Reviewed 9 April 2012

If you want to try a lot of good food from Catalonia, El Tiberi is a great place to go. By buffet, this restaurant is not at all like an American chain. Lots of freshly cooked food is placed on a serving table in large skillets and serving trays. I would estimate that about 15 different dishes were served simultaneously. I went with about 10 other colleagues around the opening time and was greeted by a kind waitress (who only spoke Spanish and Catalan) and lots of food straight out of the oven.

Another perk about El Tiberi is that if you don't see a (tapas) dish that you want, you can request it and the chef will provide it to you in about 15 minutes. And there's no extra cost! The prices were very reasonable for the quality of food.

The only thing is to watch out for the opening times, especially during the winter. The restaurant is typically open from Tuesdays to Saturdays at night from 8:00pm-11:00pm. From other reviews, I thought that it was completely closed during the winter. I sent an email to El Tiberi and they gave me a quick reply. I would recommend asking, too, if you're unsure.

“A good introduction to Catalan cuisine”
Reviewed 24 October 2011

Although this restaurant had closed for the winter season at the time of our visit, our Guide arranged for it to be opened especially for our group: about 40 turned up. As Catalans eat much later in the evening than the average Brit, the proprietor presumably had an early night after we had gone....

It is not easy to find, being about 250yds off the rambla down a side-street, but was worth the trip. Dishes were plentiful, including seafood, pigs trotters - all good traditional stuff (and the wife swears she saw a dish with brains) as well as more usual restaurant fare. When dishes were replenished, it would be something entirely different: so spread the timing of your visits to the buffet.
