Eurostars Ciudad de la Coruna
Ranked #11 of 32 Hotels in La Coruna

If it wasn't for the staff, this would just be another a three star hotel.
The hotel is not up to the level of detail of e.g. the five-star Eurostars das Letras in Lisbon (see my previous review). It is clean, the rooms are of a decent size (mine: 408), but all is a bit outdated: the front of the hotel looks exactly what it is: a 60's facade; the bathroom ceiling needs replacing; furniture is old and stained. But then the good sides (because its really not all complaints): breakfast is lush and fresh, everything nice and clean. But the hotel's greatest asset is their staff: always friendly and helpful. A very special thanks to Miquel at reception: he must be the most professional and friendliest receptionist I have ever met, ensuring we had a wonderful weekend, from the moment we checked in until checkout. Thanks!

This hotel is located on a peninsula of La Coruna. Without a car it can be challenging to get here. The Hercules Tower is a 15 minute walk along the water from the hotel. Ocean/Bay views can be had from the higher rooms.

The staff were very nice and helpful for the city. The hallways could use some TLC and I was a a bit worried as I entered the room. I had a junior sweet with a separate living area and bedroom. The room was clean and modern. The view is more a view of the harbor than the ocean.

The bed was comfortable but the walls were a bit thin. I could hear what sounded like residents. I think some of the hotel is residential.

Room Tip: higher up for better water views

This was a road trip so we needed a comfortable hotel with parking and good city access for touring. The choice was outstanding, our room was beautiful with an ocean view and there was nothing that made us unhappy. The staff were very nice, helpful and polite both in reception and restuarant.
No hesitation in making this a reccomendation in a great city to visit.

Room Tip: Short taxi ride into town, 6€, but a small price to pay for the views and tranquility.

The hotel restaurant had only a very simple buffet, it had no a la carte menu. The buffet was only there that the hotel could say that it had a restaurant so that it could maintain its 4 stars. Breakfeast was ok. We had booked the room with a view and sound of the sea and the room was nice and large with a nice view of the sea. We could see that there were workmen started at the other end of the hotel but we did not hear anything about them.

Although the hotel is undergoing renovations, we were made to feel very welcome by the excellent well trained staff, who did everything to make our stay as comfortable and relaxing as possible. Breakfast was superb, with a wide choice of hot and cold food and plenty of juices and hot drinks available. Rooms were well appointed with wonderful views across the sea and hills close by. A great holiday and thoroughly recommended.

Stayed here for two nights on a business trip to Northern Spain, and was the only English person staying at the time. The best thing about this hotel is the location, right on the headland. Fantastic sea views from most rooms and a great walks by the sea. A bit too far out of the main town to walk, but a cheap taxi ride at best is all that is needed. Clean hotel, comfortable and decent sized rooms (mine even had a jacuzzi bath!). The parking is a problem, and I agree with others comments on the paper thin walls.....There are no secrets at this hotel!! I thought at £50+ per night inc. breakfast it was good value. The sad thing is, with a few basic improvements, this place could be exceptional. Friendly staff that act as if they want to be there would be a good start. The attitude of the bloke that ran the restaurant was enough to stop me eating in it, and when I dared to ask for an iron I felt guilty for asking! The restaurant is huge, and has an outside area, and if run properly could be awesome. Little things like tea and coffee in the rooms (a fundamental for me in any hotel). Sort out the parking and put a bar in that serves more than one beer! The surrounding area is beautiful and this Northern part of Spain is no way a poor relation of its more popular "southern" relation......I do recommend you come here and take a look!

We stayed here 4 years ago and I gave it a 5* rating. Reflecting on that, I was generous.

The position on the headland is still superb, although the lack of dedicated parking means many guests have to park on the road outside, alongside the residents in the neighbouring flats.

Our first impression on arrival at about 6.00 was a wire snaking through under the revolving front doors, leading to a cleaning machine working outside. There was nobody at reception and
it took a little while before anyone appeared. Curious design means there are 3 steps up to the lifts, but once in the room all was OK.

We went down for dinner. There was nobody there, or seriously expected from the attitude of staff. They were dashing about setting up what looked like a wedding reception in half the dining room. Most of the rest was half set up for breakfast, with the buffet already waiting!

No. This was the dinner arrangement for the 5 tables set for dining. Was this a restaurant? Yes. Could we get hot food? Yes. Is there a menu? No, just ask me. We got a simple meal, but Campaniles offer better variety and service.

Thinking this must have been an off day we tried again the second night. 4 tables laid, smaller buffet. A menu of sorts was produced and copies in English and Spanish were then placed beside the buffet, proving they did exist. Again, guests were made to feel as though they were in the way of staff wanting to lay tables for breakfast.

Food was just that - food. It was reasonable value for the money, but not anything you'd want to book.

The deal we got was fair value for the money spent, but not a bargain. The hotel is looking tired, and the proprietors mighty want to abandon evening meal service altogether, or outsource it to someone who can make better use of the space.

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
The ocean is Galicia and Galicia is the ocean. For this reason a truly Galician night is one with the murmur of the waves breaking on the cliffs and waking with the dazzling reflection of the ocean light and the soft sound of the calm, morning waters. Without any doubt, because of its location and its quality, the Eurostars Ciudad de la Coruna (City of Corunna) is the ideal accommodation for treating oneself to pleasures that are so human, so Galician, so Atlantic. The Eurostars Ciudad de La Coruna is a true oasis in the city. Here, in this secret Corunna courtyard, we have exchanged the streets for a first class collection of sculptures; here, the noise of the city gives way to the sound of the waves: here, the sound of traffic is drowned and the wind peacefully takes its place; here, the hills rise to contemplate how the city falls in love with the ocean and, here, we take off from daily life to submerge ourselves in history contemplating, next to the Eurostars Ciudad de La Coruna, the most ancient lighthouse in the world, erected in Nero's times: the Tower of Hercules. ... more   less
