I am interested in this kind of things anyway, particularly when you realise that the only other Roman lighthouse known to exist is at Dover Castle....so a little bit of country pride in that we have managed to retain our version also. What has been done here though, has been done really well. The whole area is like a nature reserve, with sculpture and information boards. I am not someone who expects that everywhere I go in the world should cater for the English language but I find it eternally surprising in Spain, that information boards do not generally include English language too. Here they are in English also which makes the experience so much better. I can speak and read Spanish but with such things, it can get lost in translation.

Dont just go up the tower, walk the paths too. The birdlife in the grasses and rocks is good and watch the Marisco hunters.....its a bit dangerous what they do to get your mussels on the plate! Really excellent visitor experience and very good value.

It is a short climb to the top with some fantastic views - we went out of season, not sure how nice it will be when it is really busy.

An enthralling visit, and small wonder it is now a world heritage site only 3 euros to enter and half price for us pensioners! Although over 200 steps to the top there are various landings with information in english and a chance to catch your breath.- As you might expect the views from the top are spectacular.
