“Roof-top spectacular”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 13 May 2013 via mobile

Go to the museum and book the roof-top tour. The museum itself is fascinating and explains the history of the artefacts in the cathedral. But the roof-top tour (with guide Laura) was more than spectacular. Did you know the roof is made of granite. There is no wood used in the framework at all. The foundations must be very strong! You get taken onto the roof to walk around (safely) whilst details of construction and views across the city are explained.

Interesting exhibits, worth the visit. Interesting to see some of the history and development of the church building and the decorations both inside and out.

“Architecture and artefacts”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 3 January 2013

A visit to this Museum, accessed to the right of the main entrance to the cathedral on Praza do Obradoiro, is essential. It affords access to: the cathedral cloister, in which cathedral canons continue to be buried; parts of the old archepiscopal palace; and, a balcony on the third floor overlooking Praza do Obradoiro and nearby buildings. Within is a large tapestry collection in addition to the expected vestments and treasures. Most impressive is the reconstruction of the original stone Mateo choir stalls using pieces of the original stalls discovered relatively recently.

“Places to see in Santiago de Compostela”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 20 December 2012

If you are interested in Religious art, be sure to visit this museum. The only bad thing, is that you are not allowed to take pictures, but is well worth the visit.
