We have stayed 3 days at the hotel. It was nice and very clean, exceptionally convenient for travel by bus to the old town leaving the car in its parking. Good breakfast but the best was the service - we were given good tips about travel, attractions and restaurants by very knowledgeable and pleasant reception people. THANK YOU!

Room Tip: All room have quadruple glazing - so there is not something special to avoid

This hotel is not close to city center as the Palais de Congress. I was traveling with my wife and we had to sleep in two single beds. The recepcion told us they could not do anything. I had to go upstair and to move the beds alone. No courtesy. The rooms are large and the breafast is good.

Dear Mr. David;

Thank you in advance for share your opinion about Hotel TRYP Santiago.
With reference to your comment, I would like to inform you that the week you were with us, was a high occupancy one by a city Congress, so our prices were higher than usual.
We apologize for the inconveniences referred to the type of room. Probably we couldn’t offer you a double room with one large bed owning to the fact that there was a lack of availability.
Thanks to your post, we will try not making the same mistake.
We expect to count on you as soon as possible,

Kind regards

All the staff we dealt with at reception spoke English and were professional, pleasant, helpful, cooperative, and responsive. We received the type of room that we had requested on the reservation form.

The six-story hotel faces an overpass road in front; behind it faces another building and beyond it a park.

Our room and the bathroom were spacious, well-appointed and clean. Furniture and furnishings had simple, contemporary lines: they included a work desk and chair, and a flat-screen TV. A small bar fridge contained beverages for purchase; however, we used it to store beverages we bought at a supermarket. The free room WiFi worked well. The king-size bed and the pillows were comfortable. One of the double-glazed windows partially opened. We could see a portion of the park past the building opposite. The windows had both privacy and blackout curtains. The hotel provided a full set of toiletries in the well-lit bathroom which had a bath-shower. The hot water system worked well.

Noise from the carpeted corridor, such as voices, cleaners servicing other rooms (and chattering as they went about it), and other activities, entered the room. Though we had a room at the back of the hotel (facing away from the overpass ramp), we could still hear the muffled sounds of passing traffic bounced off the building opposite. The seal around the window needed replacing to completely block off this noise.

If you can run the air conditioning unit, the fan covers these minor outside noises. Unfortunately, the system was set for winter, that is, heating only. (The hotel system is changed at some point to cooling over summer.) Thus, during our stay we could have heating only (which was unneeded at the time) either on or off. There was no option for simple ventilation, that is, room air circulation without either heating or cooling. The thermostat dial, marked in degrees centigrade, had no discernable effect regardless of the temperature we selected. This meant that if the room became too hot the only feasible option was to open the window. The practicality of this choice depended on one's sensitivity to and the volume of outside noises. If you might be easily disturbed by outside noise, try to get a room as high up as possible, facing away from street activities and away from the lift-elevator.

If you arrive by car from Exit 72 of the Autopista del Atlantico AP 9, E 1, keep right as you proceed and avoid the overpasses. The hotel's free underground parking garage is at the right of the lobby entrance — facing the side street running parallel to an overpass. To enter, turn into the garage entranceway as far as the door. To the driver's left is an intercom. Press the button; someone at reception will open the door. Be aware that the underground garage, with concrete support pillars at set intervals, has very sparse lighting which makes it quite dark and gloomy. Some of the fluorescent tubes do not work and need replacing.

Once you have parked, look for pillars which show a dimly glowing green light. This indicates a timed light switch, which you will probably have to press occasionally before you finish unloading or loading. The lift-elevator entrance is in a dark alcove in the center of the garage; with a dimly glowing red light, you will find the light switch behind you facing opposite the lift doors.

If you do not want to use the free hotel parking, there is a small, free, public parking lot at the lower end of the block (with trees it looks a bit like a park). There is also free parking on the street running around the edge of the large park behind the hotel.

We could walk to the Santiago de Compostela Cathedral in 40-45 minutes (first downhill but then uphill most of the way) through the retail shopping area and the historic pedestrian lanes of the old city. Alternatively, you could take public buses from near the hotel to the periphery of the central pedestrian zone (ask at reception for details). We always walked, but estimate that the bus ride would take about 10-15 minutes, depending on traffic.

One block away from the hotel is a large El Corte Ingles department store with, inside, an extensive Hipercor supermarket (bring your own grocery bags or else pay for theirs). The nearest entrance is on the corner of Calle de Restollal and Rua Enrique Vidal Abascal — up the hill past (currently) a vacant lot. The center closes at 10 p.m. The El Corte Ingles has a restaurant on the sixth floor. The menu del dia is available for lunch only. The restaurant kitchen closes at 9:30 p.m.

The search for hotels with modest parking charges but near enough to the sights is always a challenge so TC Santiago suited us just fine. Rooms are big enough and have everything you will need. Beds were comfortable, excellent sound proofing (quad glazing) over a busy road so we slept very well, decent bathroom. Wifi is rubbish - slow as a wet weekend and as more people jumped on, it just ground to a halt. There is a free computer terminal in the foyer if you are desperate.

This is a business hotel that is a 20 minute (uphill) walk to the old town and Cathedral but it has free parking so that was a major bonus. We were even able to leave our car in the carpark until we were ready to leave, later in the day.

First of all, I must refer that this hotel is no longer a member of the Tryp hotels, and has changed its name to Torres de Compostela Hotel (TC Hotel).
I have stayed in this hotel with my husband during a congress he had in A Coruña (no hotels were available there!), for 2 nights. It was our 2nd time in Santiago and we chose this hotel based on the price (60€ for a stardard double room excluding breakfast). It is located in the residential district, about 20 min walking from the gorgeous historical center. In fact, if its your first time in Santiago or you want to explore the cathedral zone I would not recomend this hotel. There are lots of hotels in the center that will make your stay more special and fun (there are lots of typical restaurants and bars there!). The good thing about the location of this hotel is that it is very clore to the department store El Corte Inglés, wich has a huge supermarket where you can find everything at reasonable prices.
Upon our arrival, we asked for an upgrade to a suite (110€ including breakfast). The suite had plenty of space and was comfortable, decorated in a modern way. The amenities were regular. The breakfast was OK for the price (had good churros!) and the staff was nice and attentive. It had a free private parking.
Overall, I would say that this is a good choice for business travelers but if you want a memorable romantic trip, then you must stay in the city center wich is absolutely fabulous.
