Passing between some of the main tourist sights this batr offers refreshment for the weary traveller. A busy little place but quick and helpful service with good English spoken. Good value drinks and snak meals, recommend a slice of the Spanish pie, emtpanada, with a beer.

After visiting the cathedral, we had tapas here. The white wine that they served was refreshing, and was a typical wine of the area. We had octopus (pulpo) which was good. The rest was just alright. We found our meal here to be quite good. But this was before we explored other restaurants in the area.

Santiago is very touristy and you can really get taken at restaurants if you are not careful. Bar Charra is not a trap. It is a great little place with one waiter running around and the cooks really working hard. Food is delicious, prices are reasonable and service is quick and good-humored. The almejas were not that good but the mejillones and sardinas were delicious!

A wonderful bar - authentic atmosphere, very welcoming staff, great service and excellent food. It has become one of my favourite places to eat and drink, not only in Santiago de Compostela, but anywhere in the world.

I've hassled to try to find a spot in the Black Cat (noted in Rick Steves's travel guide), and this is much better. I've had great wine, beer, berberechos, and almejas. I'm here for another week and will probably try something else. Great service, very basic accommodations, but great seafood.
