“Excellent location!”
Reviewed 8 November 2013

My friend and myself stayed in this hotel for one night. Great location, very cozy. The staff (Jesus) was very friendly and helpful. WE had a lovely room, on the front of the hotel, we could hear music from a guy playing the 'gaita' beside the cathedral. It was very nice.

Room Tip: Our room was on the first floor, which is great as there is no lift!

I recently visited Santiago de Compostela for a night and stayed at the Hotel As Artes. Though a little difficult to find as nobody, not even many locals, knew the street, it was worth the effort getting there as the place is situated only a stone's throw away from the great Catedral. All the rooms are unique in character and are named after famous composers or artists. I had the Antonio Vivaldi room which had a balcony onto the street overlooking the entry. The room was quiet and comfortable and the staff was very friendly in helping me get settled in and in finding a good place for dinner.

Room Tip: Antonio Vivaldi room, comfortable individual room with balcony.

This hotel is very close to the cathedral so handy for sightseeing. We had the Isadora Duncan room which is listed as small and it is but fine for 2 people. There is a view of a cathedral tower through a tree. With the window open you can hear the buskers in the portal clearly and lots of church bells. The downside of this room is that it is above the taxi rank and the drivers arrive and start talking loudly very early in the morning (sunrise wasn't until after 8). There is no lift. A welcome feature of this hotel is the tea / coffee making facility.

I have been to Santiago and stayed in many hotels, most of which were very good. But, this was a really great find. The rooms are all themed, I stayed in a small but beautiful room on the top floor with a great view out on the gardens of the Archbishop's palace, which is attached to the Cathedral. The Location could not be better, very friendly staff and I got excellent value at 59 Euro. I highly recommend this hotel.

Room Tip: My room faced the front, was on the 2nd floor and had a lovely view. It was named after a Ballet dan...

I found this lovely little hotel to be both full of charm and character.
Ideally located within walking distance to most attractions. The hotel
manager was so welcoming that you almost felt that you were being
invited into his home. The breakfast was delicious and served with
such thought and care that again gave you that very homely experience.
I would highly recommend Hotel Artes to my friends and family.Really enjoyed
my stay.

This quaint little tucked away hotel was just what we needed after a 300 km part of the Camino. We were greeted with friendly service and comfortable and clean accommodation. Each room has an artistic theme and we were given the Charlie Chaplin room which was a charming loft at the top of the building with a sneak view of the turrets of the Santiago. Our transport left later in the afternoon of the following day, but the hotel gladly received our very late departure, allowing us to rest up in their lounge and make use of their wi fi.

Very sweet accommodation, right next to taxi rank but away from the noise. Well recommended.

Room Tip: Charlie Chaplin - room with a view

lovely little gem of a hotel, in the middle of the old town, recently renovated, yet with a classic feel. old style welcoming and charm, it made us feel as if we were arriving as pilgrims. free coffee and tea everywhere, parking included and tons of patience by the staff. rooms are themed after spanish and international artists and done up with plenty of wood and stone. the cathedral is literally on your doorsteps.
