Small but perfect. Great place to stay. Rooms were lovely and the staff were extremely helpful. Only a short distance from the cathedral so in an excellent location. The breakfast is also great. Highly recommended.

We had a problem at the beginning and the manager handled it quickly and satisfactorily.
Our room was very nice. It was a great location a bit away from the chaos but easy walking distance.
I do not know where they found such a lovely staff. These young women smiled ALL the time and could not have been more accommodating.

Very kind staffs.
Excellent breakfast--worth the extra cost.
Good location to walk to the center of town.
Stayed in a spacious premium room on the 3rd floor.
(The mattress of the sofa bed for extra person needs some improvement but was fine with my family)

Greatly enjoyed my brief stay in this little hotel. Staff could not have been more helpful. Situated in the old town. Free wifi nice ladies working there. There is not really more to be said to get me to 200 characters!

Room Tip: Ask for a room facing away from the street if it is a party night in the town (Thursday evenings)

We spent four nights in Santiago de Compostela after our walk along the Camino...we were with another couple. This small boutique hotel was recommended to us. We booked the superior rooms/suites on the third (top) floor. There are two...Rooms 301 and 302. Both are beautiful large L shaped rooms with a King sized bed and a desk and a seperate sitting area with a small sofa. The ceilings are dormer/angled somewhat as this is the top floor. The bathroom is spacious and bright. If you have a choice pick number 301. Number 302 is next to the elevator shaft and you can hear a little mechanical noise. Not critical as this is a small quiet hotel but still...if you have the choice. Also 302 seems to have more head room in the sitting area. If you are tall that could make a difference.

It appeared that the rooms away from the elevator shaft on the second floor are 201 and 202. On the first floor 101 and 102 are away from the elevator shaft. I noted this because I usually took the stairs (a beautiful open hardwood stairwell) rather than the elevator.

We had some laundry done at a very modest cost (compared to U.S. hotel rates).

We had a continental breakfast with our room rate. It included lovely rustic bread toast with a selection of homemade jams and jamon and cheese and tea or coffee. Fresh juice was available.

The staff is very friendly. We communicated with them ahead of time and they booked a trip to Finisterre for us with a local operator. There were 8 of us on the all day trip and we enjoyed it alot. We paid the operator directly...I believe they were called 'Galicia tours'. We also arranged on our own an all day wine tasting tour...loved that as well.

We spent a full day wandering around the historic center of Santiago de compostela. It is a beautiful city. Lots to see and do. The hotel is in a convenient quiet location maybe 5-7 minutes from the Cathedral. We really enjoyed our audio guide tour of the Cathedral. Sadly the 'Portico of Glory' is under scaffolding...a reason to come back. We attended Mass twice and saw the censer swing at one of them. Even my non Catholic spouse was moved. Arrive early...20-30 minutes for good seats.

Many good restaurants and tapas bars nearby. No bar or restaurant in the Altair which is why it is a quiet place to stay! Their sister property is on the opposite side of the street about a block down (the name escapes me) and it has a lovely bar and courtyard to have drinks.

Couple of minor issues... There was construction/remodeling going on next door. Sleeping during the work day would have been an issue. This probably won't go on indefinately...maybe a few months? It started late morning and went on until about 6:30pm.

The toiletries were very strange...test tube shaped and thus impossible to stand upright and use in the shower.

We arrived and turned the AC on. We turned on the fan and hit the snowflake symbol. We stepped out for 30 minutes came back and the room was a sauna. They apparantly don't turn the air conditioning on until ???? So even though we thought we were turning on the air we got heat. This was the first week in May...

We would stay here again if we could get our lovely third floor rooms!

Room Tip: Third floor superior rooms, especially number 301

We stayed here for 2 nights as part of a much bigger road trip through Northern Spain. Part of the Rusticae group of hotels, this small boutique hotel is just on the very edge of the old part of Santiago de Compostela. Staff were very helpful, professional and friendly. Continental breakfast was hearty consisting of bread, jamon, the local cheese, lovely jams, fruit and coffee (bottomless cups). There is no kitchen so eggs were not on offer. Easy walking distance to all the sites.

Rooms are small but adequate and fitted out in a modern (aparthotel) style. No tea/coffee making facilities in the rooms (which we really missed being Australians and used to having our cuppa every morning!). We had a corner room which had a bit of traffic noise from time.

All in all, a good 3 star choice, basic but adequate.

Room Tip: Corner rooms on the upper levels are noisy.
