This large plaza is one of many plazas around the Cathedral. This one has many steps that can be used for seating.

It's another plaza but equally as attractive as the many others in Santiago de la Compostela. and throughout Spain.

Plaza de la Quintana is located just behind the Cathedral and is smaller and less crowded than the Plaza del Obradoiro. As the main entrance of the Cathedral is under restoration, you enter the Cathedral from side doors just behind the spire. The stairs would be great to sit on and watch the world go by, and there are shops, cafe's and bars nearby.

At night, Praza da Quintana is where you can see the Pilgrim’s Shadow. Face the Porta Santa (Holy Door); turn 90 degrees left; walk approximately 2 or 3 meters (6 to 9 feet) past the corner; turn 90 degrees right and look at the corner behind the column that serves as the base of the lighting rod. You will see a perfectly shaped shadow of a pilgrim wearing a hood and carrying a staff.

Great place to see the sights and sounds of Santiago. Awesome people watching and less crowds.

My kids ran around and we did not feel like they were being a nuisance.

Recommend this place.
