Beware! If you don't mind sleeping on a "Botel" with only 4 smallish accommodation cabins(with marine toilets & hand basins), using the marina showers, etc. this is a great stay for anybody who likes boats, marinas, and close company. Breakfast available on the foredeck, and large top deck to relaxing, using WiFi, soaking up the sun, or watching the world go by. Jill & John are great hosts and make no end of effort to make the stay as relaxed as possible. Close to marina bars & food, sailing schools, town centre, airport, & the Spanish border. This is not 5 star, but best value for money in Gibraltar; a relaxing 6 days I & my son have enjoyed thanks to Con Dias!

Room Tip: The aft cabin is a double and roomy with ensuite toilet. the forepeak is 3 single bunks, but best as...

I will certainly not stay anywhere else now when revisiting Gibraltar, The Con Dios was great, just what I like - something a bit different. Jill and John were so welcoming and helpful throughout my short stay and there is nothing better than sitting on the top deck either looking out over the many yachts or over to the row of bustling bars directly opposite at Ocean village. I stayed in the State cabin on my first night which was great, i dont normally sleep well away from home but did on the big comfy bed there. Second night was in the twin room which, although not as nice as the state cabin, was fine. I really didnt want to leave but will definately be returning asap.

The owners of the Con Dios were lovely. There were several really nice touches, from a birthday card for my father-in -law (whose 70th birthday we were there to celebrate) to a basket of toiletries available to borrow if you had forgotten something when you packed, and lots of information sheets on things to do.
We found the cabins had enough room to be comfy (and my husband is 6ft 4 ) with lots of storage, tea and coffee making facilities and a fridge in the corridor to keep wine and milk cold in.
The gang plank would be an issue for those not steady on their feet (but we were warned about this by the owners and decided to take the risk, as it happened no one ended up in the water)
The place is clean, the beds comfy and we all slept like logs.
In terms of location I don't think you could do a lot better, right in the marina, a 1 minute walk from all the bars and restaurants. These were pretty lively then miraculously quietened down at 11.15pm.
I could see from other reviews that some find using a marine toilet an issue. We did not. The shower block was, again, less than a minutes walk away, newly refurbished and cleaned daily.
For the price we paid, we were all very impressed.

Room Tip: The stateroom has a lot more "move about" room than the other cabins

Staying at the Con Dios is a unique experience. Not for everyone for sure - but definitely worth a night or two - even if not on the high seas. If you have ever sailed in anything less than 60 feet in length - the Stateroom was roomy by comparison. The upper outside deck had furniture and was cigar friendly. It was a pleasure to watch the sunset while sipping Spanish vino and puffing on a Cuban Cohiba. The Stateroom had plenty of room and the bed was quite comfortable. Morning breakfast was cereal and milk, although you can pay for a complete cooked breakfast.

The location of the con Dios is exceptional; numerous bars, and the Casino next door. Just don't drink too much before walking on the gang plank to enter the boat. As long as you properly flush the toilet there is no offensive odor in the cabin. Everyone at the Marina has to shower and use the toilet facilities (for #2) at the end of the dock. Thus it was no big thing to walk 100 yards to the Marina's facilities. Jill, the skipper at the Con Dios, was terrific. It was a fun time and the best value for the money in Gibraltar. jr

If you're looking for luxury and comfort then Con Dios wouldn't be your cup of tea.
On the other hand if you want some adventure, enjoy sleeping on boats, close to a number of good bars and restaurants, and want to try something completely different, then the Con Dios delivers. Putting things into perspective I spent £40 a night to stay in the relatively spacious and fairly comfortable stateroom with en suite toilet and hand basin. Showers were located in the marina bathrooms a short walk away from the boat. Smaller and cheaper cabins were available for around £25 per night. At those prices I think the Con Dios was a good deal. Another solution for the less adventurous, depending also on the length of your stay, might be to split your stay between the Con Dios and a "normal" hotel.

Room Tip: Stateroom is definitely the best cabin on board

Yes - it's unique and not 5 star but I've stayed in far worse places so I think the people who don't appreciate this small gem are very shallow. I had no preconceptions having not read the reviews before I travelled. I travel a lot with work so really care about where I stay. I will be returning as soon as I am able, to show the boat and island off to my partner who was unable to join me this time.

I chose to stay in the stateroom as the room looked nice. The room had plenty of storage and a very comfortable bed. The windows are small but give you a sneak peak at the world which I found endearing. Ensuite bathroom was a plus and the toilet is a breeze once you get used to it with no smells or problems. The other rooms are smaller but perfectly planned. Yes, the gang plank can give you an attack of nerves if you let it but also a breeze once your confidence kicks in. Shower block was clean and well maintained but the experience of going there was no different to the use of a really good camp sites facilities.

The boat is a short walk from the main high street but there are some really good places to eat right in the harbour. There is a small sun deck which is adorable to catch the last rays of the day and in summer you could opt for breakfast up there. There is also a small seat on the bow which is ideal to watch the sun come up with a morning coffee.

Jon and Jill are very sociable and help their guests with almost anything they ask for if it is within their gift. They leave you to yourself but help when asked. I am an ex smoker and did not detect a hint of any stale smoke within my cabin. I felt very safe walking round the harbour and thoroughly enjoyed my time aboard the Con Dios which I have been told means 'with god'. I'm not religious but this certainly felt like a little bit of heaven to me....

Room Tip: Stateroom for a room more like a hotel with a good double bed say, for a couple. Twin room for no n...
