“Excellent service, excellent food”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 3 July 2013

We went to Calle Laurel to try to choose a place for lunch, and were overwhelmed with the choices. While we were looking at the menu, Luis, the charming waiter, came out and explained everything to us. He even opened ten minutes early to accommodate our needs.

It's 16.99 for the three course lunch menu that includes bread, a bottle of water, and a bottle of wine! We had the red beans and potatoes with chorizo to start. For the mains we had peppers stuffed with ham, mushrooms and cheese, and the pork ribs. For dessert we had watermelon and egg flan.

We ended up being a bit short on time, but Luis made it all happen so that we were actually done five minutes ahead of schedule! We were so pleased with our meal that on the way out there were a couple of other tourists looking at the menu and we told them how good it was!

“Great sit down restaurant in a town of tapas!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 21 June 2013

Good restaurant choice in a town full mostly of tapas bars. We were served by a lovely gentleman who spoke limited English but was trying to be as helpful as he could, We ordered starters and mains and he ensured we got best value for money when he noticed I had ordered 2 things from the set menu (which I had not realised!) - this also include dessert and a half carafe of wine. The food was really good, my starter of beans and fish broth was especially delicious! We asked for half carafes of wine each (as drinking white/red separately) and he opened two fresh bottles for us and left them on the table although we did only drink half each and that was all we were charged for - the meal was very good value too.

“Not our best choice of restaurant in Logrono”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 19 May 2013

Unfortunately we lack the enthusiasm shown for this restaurant by the two London reviewers. The harassed head (and only) waiter rushed around like a headless chicken. He brought the chosen, and expensive, wine to our table, uncorked it, poured a little for tasting and immediately rushed off. Whether it was acceptable or otherwise was clearly of no consequence to him, as he successfully avoided eye contact and signals and did not re-appear at our table until be brought our starters some ten minutes later.

Of the two starters chosen from the a la carte menu, one was acceptable but the other disastrously prepared and grossly overpriced. The main course of roast suckling pig was very good indeed but the accompaniments and presentation poor.

It may well be that the set menu is good value for money but choosing from the a la carte is not.

“Traditional food - central location”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 8 May 2013

We stopped in Logrono on the way to Bilbao and had done no research in advance but found our way to Calle Laurel which our hotel guide showed as full of restaurants. El Muro was the one that appealed most and turned out to be a good find, although the only diners were English speaking tourists, but it was early ie 8pm. There was a good set menu at a reasonable price E16.99 - which included a glass of wine, and the dishes were traditional. Our visit was much enhanced by the charming Luis who showed us his wine cellar at the rear before our departure.
