I like it. Yes, there are some issues like: kitchen without kettle, only spain tv-channels, no free wi-fi, but overall - place with great price/quality ratio. 5 minutes to the Palacio Real, 1 minute to Gran via, 7 minutes to Templo de Debod. 10-15 minutes to Principe Pio station (if you travel only with carry-on baggage) - the most convenient way (apart from taxi) to go to/from airport. And amazing views on Plaza España.

Not my first stay, I am there every three months for two weeks. The reason for choosing the espahotel is the hassle-free service, the helpful reception and the cheap breakfast and dinner if you don't want to search for a nicer restaurant after a long business day.

There are multiple type of rooms and I mostly take the studio with an additional living room. All rooms have a tiny kitchen and a place to eat which makes staying comfortable.

The furniture is not the newest but everything is cleans and the accessories in the bathroom are thought through.

The breakfast is typical for Spain, including churillos, tomato liquid, egg, yoghurt, fresh orange juice and coffee to selfmix. Easy but sufficient and cheap.

The dinner is three course for around ten euros including drinks, so nothing to complain.

Location is perfect if you want to walk to 80% of the must see things. Metro is one minute walk away and gran via is the pulse of,the city anyway.

Last time my three kids and my wife joined me there for a couple of days and the WiFi included was appreciated (long stay its included).

Always again!

Hotel has a great location right on the Gran Via, but service was terrible, bathroom shower broke down first night. They offered to change us to another room next day. Since we were given a triple room, we were asked the next day to move again to a double. Hotel has WIFI but charges 4 Euros per day per device.

Room Tip: Stay away!

It was an old apartment. old design, old air conditioning, still can't figure out how to really work that out well. but keep us cool during our stay. the room are clean.
We stayed there twice during a week. each booking we rent 2 rooms, and all the rooms has different type of kitchen net set. one room has microwave, one room has panfry, etc.. so its not really standardised. Some of the kitchen sets are not cleaned well. Still we believe it was nice to have kitchen.

It's a small hotel. They have no swimming pool, Paid Wifi. Location is good. across the street from nice park, walking distance to the palace. easy to find grocery store and restaurants. next road they have chinese restaurant. with all you can eat buffet menu. served good food and good price.
2 of the front desk officer speak English and helpful. While the older man barely can help us out.
Right next door from the hotel there is a tour and travel office "JULIA travel" they provided with all the tours you can think off in Madrid and around the spain. And the meeting point for each tour was right in front of the office. So the hotel is really best choice if you join the tour program.

Espahotel Plaza España, is not a modern new Hotel but it is very charming and a good value for an apartment style Hotel across from the Historic Plaza de España. Only a block from the Grand Via, two blocks from Plaza de Oriente park across from the Royal Palace, and a short walk to Plaza Mayor in the heart of 16th century Madrid. The metro station (Plaza de España) is only a few steps from the Hotel Lobby door giving you essay access to virtually anywhere in the great city.

The rooms are clean but the furniture is simple. Beds are small by USA standards but comfortable. As far as I can tell every room is equipped with a small kitchen facilities, satellite television, mini bar, and hair dryer. No to be taken for granted in European budget Hotels every room has an in room private bathroom.

The staff was very helpful and efficient and tries to accommodate your needs, making you feel welcome. The Hotel does a limited number of parking spaces for a charge.

If you are looking for a budget older hotel with character in a great location with good service, this hotel will meet most expectations. It is not the Ritz or the Westin Palace but for the price you are getting solid value at a great location.
