“Great location, clean and helpful staff”
Reviewed 19 May 2010

Stayed in a on bed apartment 'Palacio Real Tipo A' with 3 friends (4 in total) for two nights. The apartments are situated in a lovely part of La Latina. The only negative in terms of location was that if you were coming from the 'La Latina' metro station you passed by an old church just before you got to the apartments where a group of homeless people seemed to live and spend most of the day. We never had any problems with them but could be a little disconcerting for single travellors. Having said that there are three routes the apartments can be accessed from so if it was an issue it can be avoided and definitely shouldn't deter people from staying in what were otherwise great apartments. The staff were very friendly, but depending on who was on duty didn't have a great deal of English. We had a late flight out and it was a huge benefit to be able to leave our bags at the apartments even after we had checked out. The apartment itself although small, was clean and had everything you need for a short stay. If you are making use of the sofa bed bare in mind that it is quite noisy (as it is beside the stairs although the area in general is quiet except when the Irish bar below 'Ugly Paddy' is in full flow on Fri and Sat nights) compared to the actual bedroom. The apartments are surrounded by tapas bars and cafes. Definitely worth shopping around as we found some are much better than others. There is a fantastic tapas bar on/close to Calle de Nuncio (delicious food and reasonably priced). Overall the we found the apartment ideal for our trip (weekend with friends) and loved the area (the market in La Latina on a Sunday is a must).

Very good acommodation option, for down town fans. 2 min walking distance from a metro station, 10 min from plaza Mayor and 13 min from Sol. Major Museums are between 15 and 25 min walks, although the metro is a good alternative. It will probably take you the same time (maybe even more) but you will not walk so much.
The appartment was quite (no view though since it was an inside room), clean and very decently decorated. Free cable internet, a 22'' CRT tv plus a divx compatible DVD player. Microwave oven with grill, a stove, iron and iron board, plus a hairdryer. No coffee maker though, although you can get some to go in the nearby cafes.
