This is a lovely hotel in Spain's most exclusive neighborhood, Barrio de Salamanca. The rooms are luxurious and spotless. There's a fancy-shmancy restaurant that we didn't try, as it was way too expensive for breakfast, and so much more in the area to choose from in terms of dinner. (By the way, NEVER take the breakfast deal at a Spanish hotel -- walk down the street or around the corner, as we did in this ultra-exclusive area, and you'll find LOTS of great little bars serving cheap desayunos, E3-6 per).
What's really great is the neighborhood -- very upscale, quite posh, but not too snooty. Plus, there's a metro station 2 blocks away -- Madrid is huge and hot, take the subway all you can -- and lots of shopping and restaurants around.
