“Unforgettable Night”
Reviewed 19 November 2013

My wife and I went to Hotel Unico to celebrate our 10 year anniversary, and it could not have been better. The staff is among the best I have ever encountered. We were greeted with a glass of cava while we checked in and our car was parked for us and all our luggage taken straight to our room. We were upgraded to a deluxe room which had beautiful high ceilings and plenty of room. The location is excellent, a few meters away from some of the best shopping in Europe, excellent restaurants, bars, cafes, etc. We also took advantage of the car service, which is excellent. We were taken to our anniversary dinner in a beautiful Audi with glass roof, which was waiting for us right on time at the doorstep of the hotel. We were dropped off in front of our restaurant and all for less than the cost of a normal city taxi.
Breakfast the next morning was fantastic. The food offering was simple and of the highest quality - perfect. Fresh juices, fresh fruit, the brie was to die for and the bread was amazing.
Thanks again to Hotel Unico for making our 10 year anniversary such a special occassion.

The tiny room is clean and nicely decorated. Located in the fourth floor the ceiling is angled and I kept on bumping my head constantly. Location is excellent. I will look for another option. This hotel does not worth the price

Beautiful house in upscale and convenient Salamanca area. Two relaxing communal lounge type rooms, plus garden room which was nice in winter but would be great in summer. All rooms are priced the same. I viewed a variety of them and we stayed in two. There are two types - traditional, high ceilinged with French type windows, and loft rooms with a rooflight but no view. We didn't like the latter but loved the large traditional room we moved into. The staff told us people like the loft rooms because they're romantic, but we found ours claustrophobic and we couldn't get the aircon right.

The best thing about the hotel is the staff, who are undoubtedly the best I've met in any hotel. Friendly, smart, well-informed and they went out of their way to be helpful in every way.

We stayed 5 nights and would definitely return.

We stayed at the Hotel Unico for 4 nights. The staff couldn't have been nicer or more helpful and we also liked out room. We stayed in room 203 and it was clean and quiet, even though it overlooked the street. We thought the size of the room was normal by european standards. The location was great, particularly if you want to visit the high end shops that are in the neighborhood. We utilized their car service to pick us up from the airport and take us to the train station and that worked flawlessly. Should we return to Madrid, we would stay here again.

My husband and I just spent two nights at Hotel Unico and loved it. Unfortunately my husband was under the weather, so we ended up spending a great deal of time in the room and taking advantage of room service. The room was nicely appointed, quiet, with lovely linens, towels and slippers. We were happy to find consommé on the room service menu, for him, and great wine and dinner options for myself. The staff were all wonderful, very friendly and professional. We took advantage of the private car service to and from the airport which I highly recommend. The hotel is in a great location, easy walk to the Prado, shopping and some nice restaurants. I look forward to returning when my husband is feeling better and I can explore more.

Upon arrival we were greeted very nicely and happily we were upgraded to a junior suite on the 4th floor. The room was lovely, a pity there was no view but the overall size and quality of the room made up for this.

All the stay were extremely friendly and patient with our Spanish and nothing was too much trouble for anyone.

Madrid was a super experience and we have no reason to think of staying anywhere else when we return again.

I'm so glad that I picked Unico hotel for our 5 days stay in Madrid! Originally I was thinking about staying in the older part of the city. But most of the hotels in the down town are old and even if they are renovated you still feel that smell of mold or dust. Also lots of noise there. Not only people walking 24/7, but also locals trying to sell goodies to tourists.

But back to Unico. The location is premier with metro access two block away. Nice, clean and quiet. Lots of high-end stores around. Like Prada, Armani, etc. Surprisingly clean metro stations and very easy to use if you have a map. We walked street around the hotel at midnight and had no problems. Also they have a very beautiful garden/backyard where you can just sit, relax and have a glass of wine. We went there almost every night before going to bed. The neighborhood is very quiet, so you will enjoy your sleep.

We ordered a pick-up service from the airport and I was very happy with it. You really don’t want to mess up with taxi in the morning, plus you may hit traffic and pay twice more. The staff in the hotel was very friendly and everyone spoke English. We arrived around 10 am and the room was ready for us. No waiting in the lobby! Thank you Unico! Plus they also provide late checkout! Our flight back was at 5 pm and we stayed in the room till 3pm.

The room was decent size and had a REAL king size bed, 2 closets and a pretty spacious bathroom. I say REAL king size because many hotels in Madrid pull 2 double beds together selling them as a king size. The bathroom had a bathtub/shower/sink and also a separate room with a toilet. Love it! Also we had 2 windows in our room. One of them had a balcony overlooking the garden. There was also a sitting area next to the window. Beautiful! Our room was very bright and we enjoyed our stay. Also wanted to mention 3 layers of curtains, so if you close them you can’t see a thing . And you can leave windows open at night – just to get some fresh air if you don’t like air conditioner. But even air conditioner (central air) was quiet, so no complains here. I saw people’s comments about small room size – I would recommend visiting New York. For $350 you won’t get even 1/2 of it :)

Just wanted to address that comment below about stolen baggage. I think US is the only one county in the universe where you can leave you baggage untended. If you carry a very expensive bag – it’s your personal responsibility to look after it. Don’t blame hotel or staff or anyone else. And it’s not about Spain, Italy and any other countries in Europe. Just always keep an eye on it.

Thank you!
