“Don't bother!”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 1 July 2013

Initial service - slow. Waiter - unfriendly. Glass of wine - very small. 3 of 4 dishes - average. Final dish - cold. Waiter - now even more unfriendly. Wait for the bill - 20 minutes. Cost - overpriced. Return - never!

If you are in the region of Plaza de Santa Ana and want a quality, reasonably priced lunch or meal with excellent service, head for El Lateral on the other side of the square. It's 20 metres and a million miles away.

“Awful service”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 26 June 2013

The worst service I have ever had.
We sit in one of the tables outside in Santa Ana square and I just couldn't believe the waiters' behaviour.
They didn't say a single word to us during the whole lunch (I speak Spanish btw) not even a smile, they were just rude and made us feel really uncomfortable.
They brought 3 glasses when there were four of us and it took them ages to bring another one. They didn't bring forks when the food arrived so we had to ask for them and wait again for a long time.

A real shame because the food was correct, expensive due to the location, but it wasn't too bad, however I have never been served so bad in a restaurant. I'll never come back.

“Listen to other reviews of beware as there are a few.”

Ate here last night as my favorite place Lateral, opposite restaraunt was full. This place is terrible. The food is ok. The service is dreadful. I am by myself on business and so shouldn't be difficult to serve me and get my order right. They royally screwed it up and then as none of them can speak English...hmmmm...they couldn't correct me check. So I paid 45 euros for a starter half portion, a main course half portion and a bottle of water. I am used to waiting a little longer in Spain, Italy etc for food as it is the culture, but this place took it to new levels. Don't visit this place go to another with better ratings like Lateral on square and reserve in advance as it is better than being ripped off and given bad service.

Also be careful when sitting outside in Santa Ana square. The place is crawling with pick pockets and immigrants selling cheap toys and others begging for money. It is like this in most major Mediterranean countries now like Barcelona, Rome, Athens etc and Madrid is bad for it too. Just be weary and keep your valuables close.

“Really good food on Plaza Mayor at a good price”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 21 October 2012

Cinco Jotas had about 6 locations but this is Not chain food. Specialty is Iberian ham from puffs raised organically in pastures eating acorns. We had only main dishes but desserts looked good as well. A favorite of at least some locals!

Don't miss looking at charming mural that looks like it is straight from a folk tale, and at the hanging curing hams.
