Stayed three nights on a city break. Hotel is not only chic and basic but is also clean and tidy. Great shower - best of any hotel we have stayed in. We had two rooms - both at front with balconies to street. Inexplicably - One was cool and other very warm. In double room, privacy will be an issue for many as shower has glass wall to room (although there is a roller blind this is also see through). The twin room had a conventional shower enclosure ie private. Staff are very helpful and welcoming. 'Help yourself' kitchen area is great for breakfast and snacks. Rooms suffered from street noise. This was particularly bad on on one night - Halloween!. So if you like a quiet night perhaps best to book a room at rear onto internal courtyard. Situation is very good and all main attractions and sights are within walking distance and metro is very close. Overall we enjoyed our stay.
Stayed here recently , rooms very basic , bed and pillows very uncomfortable impossible to get room temperature right it was either too hot and stuffy or freezing they seemed to be having problems with their AC, My husband and i booked a large double room aprox , 8 weeks before our vacation on arrival we were given a room at front of hotel street noise was ongoing all night , and there was a building site next door with scaffolding up, needless to say we got no sleep . We complained the following morning and were moved to back of hotel room was definately more peaceful but same problem with AC etc. We have stayed in sister hotel in Barcelona , Born area and thought we were coming to the same set up but there is no comparison , would not stay here again , good location but lots of really good hotels and hostels in same area at a better price. Having said all this staff were helpful especially blond lady at reception and did give us a discount on check out after a long argument.
Lovely clean, basic rooms, but done with style. Had a great, peaceful nights sleep, I loved the help yourself kitchen area downstairs where you can get drinks at anytime, the coffee machine was fantastic and it was a great sociable space for hooking up with our fellow travellers. Staff were very friendly giving local advice and recommendations depending on what you wanted to get up to in Madrid during your stay with the lady at reception giving us a map and highlighting areas we might want to try for restaurants and bars which was a real touch. Location was excellent but quiet, very central, would definitely stay here again.
We only stayed for one night, but for the excellent price this place was awesome. The lady on reception was incredibly helpful and friendly and the room was really comfortable. It's also a fantastic location, very accessible by metro (Tirso de Molina is just at the bottom of the street) and in perfectly easy walking distance of Plaza Mayor, Mercado San Miguel etc.
The only thing I would say is be mindful of who you're sharing a room with if you stay here! The bathroom / shower facilities are not very private at all! If you're an established couple you should be fine, but I was sharing with a male friend...not ideal!
Excellent location just 60 seconds walk from Tirso de Molina Metro on Line 1 and a couple of minutes from Plaza Mayor and Sol.
The hotel is a pleasant surprise with basic, clean and cool rooms. The shower was one of the best hotel showers I've ever experienced, decent pressure and funky LED lights in the cubicle. The blinds can be drawn to hide the shower from the bedroom if you want. The beds were comfy, and the room decently air conditioned.
Breakfast is included in the room rate - nothing fancy, just help yourself to cereal, toast, coffee and juice. Coffee, tea and juice is available all day in the kitchen area.
Great hotel, great service and near enough perfect location for a tourist in Madrid - definitely recommended.
