“Great value, average service ”
Reviewed 26 July 2014 via mobile

Popped in at 10pm on a Monday night. Really busy, nice atmosphere but no issue getting a table. Took a while for the waiter to take our order. Only seemed to have two waiters working the whole restaurant. We ordered seared artichokes as a starter and they arrived with bacon on. This wasn't on the menu so we asked for it to be taken back. The waiter then came back 2 minutes later with a plate of uncooked artichokes. Bit lazy as they clearly couldn't be bothered to cook them.

However, the wine was really cheap. We got a bottle of reserve Rioja for only 16 euros.

All in all, a decent meal was had but not as good as reviews suggest.

“Good food, good value”
Reviewed 26 July 2014

A great local find recommended by a friend who lives in Madrid. La Sanabresa is a perfect place for omnivores and vegetarians to eat together. Portions are generous and shareable, and the food is freshly made. We had a tasty (and gigantic) dish of berenjena rebozada (breaded, fried eggplant), spinach, grilled sea bass (fantastic), and morcilla de arroz (rice-stuffed blood sausage), which was absolutely delicious. The prix fixe menu is an excellent value (12.5 euros as of this writing). The service was warm and gracious. Lots of locals eating here. Maybe not worth a trip across town, but if you are in the area, definitely worth stopping in for a hearty, delicious meal.

“Great value for a great experience”
Reviewed 28 June 2014

This restaurant felt more like gathering with friends for dinner than like going out to a restaurant. The service and atmosphere were great, the sangria very good, and rather food very good for a great price. Even the cheapest options on the fixed price menu were very good. It would have been hard to find without a guide, but so glad ours recommended Sanabresa!

“Terrific value prix fixe”
Reviewed 18 June 2014

We picked the €12.50 prix fixe dinner (that's only $35 for the two of us) and it was an excellent value. Appetizers of spinach & garlic ratatouille and fricassee of rabbit. Sea bass and salad. creme caramel and almond cake, two half bottles of wine and bread. all nicely prepared for excellent ingredients.

We recommend it.

Get the menu of the day when you visit here! 10.50 for 3 courses, bread, water, and a BOTTLE of wine!! The food is fantastic, proper Spanish fare, with no frills. A true experience of Madrid - don't miss it!!
