Exactly what we needed for our first trip to Spain. Reasonably priced, small, clean rooms to crash and relax in, between excursions out into the city. Private bathrooms with showers. Small, individual balconies looking out onto the street. Most of the city is within walking distance, and everything else is a quick ride on the nearby Metro—including the Madrid airport and the Atocha train station.
The staff is friendly and helpful. English was spoken freely, and my halting Spanish was patiently listened to.
This isn’t luxury, nor is it meant to be. It’s just a small, no-frills, centrally located spot. (You shouldn’t be spending too much time in your room anyway!)
If there was air conditioning, I couldn’t tell… So we did sleep with the window open. Fair warning: Madrid is a lively city, and exterior crowd noise is to be expected late into the night. That’s just par for the course, I suspect. As long as you know that going in, you’re golden.
I’ll definitely look to stay here again if (when!) I return to Madrid.
