“Great hotel”
Reviewed 30 August 2012

We arrived at the hotel, very friendly reception, and in English!
Room was very nice, not too big, but clean and they had everything needed.
Pool is rather small, with too many people, so we didn't use it.

Location is really perfect, right at the metro Santo Domingo, and very central in Madrid.

Although in a very good location, claen room and with good rate, I wouldn't stay there again. It was very hard to sleep due to other guests noise. It seems the walls there are made of paper (you can here everything - and guests there were not very polite, slaming the door all the time, letting the radio alarm on and on forerever, etc) ... Also, as a negative point, u have to check in at on side of the building but you have to go around it to take elevators to your room. Its not so distant but there is a stairway in between and NO ONE helps with your luggage (I had 2 heavy pieces).

Booked a late checkout deal through expedia for a girlie few days of fun in the sun. Hotel is a centrally located near the shops/sights/tour bus stops. I liked the modern decor in our bedroom and the walkin shower with three heads. The room was small but we were out and about a fair bit so good for us. Comfy beds with no noise issues. The buffet breakfast was good and available until 10.30 but didn't like the odd opening hours of the pool. Pool not that big - more of a sun deck area. The hotel could have provided more information about its facilities and a kettle in the rooms but otherwise a rather positive experience - reception were helpful when we wanted to book shows/taxi etc. worth booking.

Average hotel but the location is excellent to visit the city. Before you unload your suitcases it's safer to check first if everything works : airco, shower, ... Breakfast is average. Nice swimmingpool on the top of the building but it opens only at 11.00 AM and closes at 19.30 PM.
A lot of restaurants in the neighborhood and shopping possibilities.

The hotel is very well located just off Grand Via and next to the metro. Reception was efficient although a bit cool - maybe typical of Madrid. There was some maintainance work being done in the hotel but it did not interfere much and there was little noise. The room was dissappointingly small and with no window to outside. Comfortable enough but not what I expected. Breakfast was OK but there were not enough seats/tables - go for a coffee and you could lose your table.

The location is just about perfect, 5 -10 min walking distance to most of the major attractions in Madrid with a Meyro station across the street.

The breakfast buffet is ok. The only down side is the room, extremely small(less then 3 ft between the bed and the walls). The bathroom had a leaky shower door and a strange smell. For over 100€ a night it seemed a little pricey.

In the end I would recomend this hotel for it's location.

Stayed at the Santo Domingo for a city break with friends. Must admit that I was quite apprehensive before arrival as I had read some of the not so complementary reviews by previous guests.
I have no complaints about the room and the facilities at this hotel. Our twin room was beautifully decorated and very comfortabel, and the en suite was themed and lovely. The pool on the rooftop was such a fabulous extra in the centre of Madrid, with views right out to the sierra, truly lovely and very clean.
My only observation would be about some of the hotel staff, the male staff member who met us was very friendly and polite as was the one handling our luggage, however desk staff on subsequent days were not quite as approachable and several times I felt like I was distracting them from more important matters, not great when you are a paying guest.
Other than that I would recommend the Santo Domingo to anyone wishing to visit Madrid, I have visited the city on many occasions and had thought that previous 4* accommodation would be hard to beat, but I will ceratinly return to this great hotel.

Room Tip: When booking ask for a room in the new part of the hotel as I believe that all the problems are in T...
