we loved the atmosphere, the paintings and the food - we stayed for hours and probably didn't see everything, well worth a visit if you like art!

I like El Bosco (Bosh) I can stay some hours facing one of his picture
I don't like very much the restaurant, but is rare to have a good restaurant in a Museum
And don't forget to visit Reina Sofia and the Geurnica painting

It was recommended to us to visit this hotel during siesta to avoid the long ticket lines and crowds of people. There was no line when we went at 3pm. The museum is lovely, but is a maze of master pieces. You will need more than 3 hours to see even half of what is on display at this museum! If you are planning on visiting the Picasso Museum in Barcelona I recommend looking for Valazquez's Las Meninas while at the Prado. It tied the trip together for us by seeing the original Las Meninas at the Prado and then Picasso's many replications of this piece at the Picasso Museum.

Beautiful museum. However a bit on the pricey side. They do have "free" times in the evening if you google it.

It's big and has some of the most amazing art in the world. We bought audio tablets that we could listen to while looking at the paintings. This was very helpful to understand the history behind both the painter and the art. Wish there was a bit more organized tour (arrows on the floor like in IKEA) so that we wouldn't get lost all the time. Other than that we loved it. Don't eat in the cafeteria: overpriced and really bad food.
