We visited the palace during its free opening hour from 18:00 up-to 20:00. This worked out nicely. To tour the palace 1 hour is sufficient. The visit is surely recommendable and gives the visitor an idea of the royal life throughout the years.

Is the largest palace from Europe; is the official residence of the Royal Family but they didn't live there
The Royal Family live in a little palace "Palacio Zarzuela"also in Madrid
Palacio Real is huge; it has 3418 rooms but only 44 rooms can be visited
Is a splendid palace and if you go to Madrid you must visit, not to be missed; necessarily visiting the palace must be done with a guide (knows a lot of things and you can ask questions too)
Unfortunately, inside you can not take pictures

It’s an amazing place, one of the best places to visit in Madrid. Also I recommend when you are there to visit the Armory. A very good visit for families with children and couples.

Was advised to go early at 10 am and there was no queue at all without prebooking .Entrance very reasonable for seniors. It is a pity that photos without flash are not permitted. The luxury of some of the rooms was amazing and the porcelain wonderful. The dining room with its long table elegantly set has to be seen to be believed

We had booked tickets so were able to go straight in at the appointed hour. Comfortable shoes recommended as it is quite a trek round the whole palace. the state rooms including the banquet hall are almost without exception impressive. The level of artefact and adornment is sometimes too much to fully absorb. We enjoyed it much more than we expected.
