a great weekend so much achieved in a short time but still left eating to return and continue to see the thing s didn't have time to do
A great location. Just a short walk and you are in the centre of Madrid - Puerto del Sol where shops and restaurants are plentiful .Rooms and Bathroom a little tired but functional and it wasn't a big problem Clean and service was fine Breakfast was varied in choice buffet style which enabled the very hungary to go back for more than one visit to the pastries but there was everything you could want Both hot and cold.
The city itself was just a short walk away. Plaza de Mayor offers a wonderful ambience and again variety of cafes to sit and sip wine , beer or martini rosso. Plenty to observe So much street theatre, people watching and everyone appeared to be enjoying the temperature . Nor far away San Miguel Mercado - a great place for an aperitif before going out for the evening a little tapas , some cava or beer all available before heading to wealth of restaurants or even nightclubs
A great place for a weekend

Room Tip: we went for a room at the back with a sun terrace it was supplemented but it was useful as there was...

To be fair you get what you pay for and maybe a bit more if the suns out and you can enjoy the top floor swimming pool.. If going in a winter month I would avoid, or at least check that the spa facilities are all available and have had recent maintenance work done on them as this was not the case last week (specifically, jacuzzi not working and paint peeling off the walls in the steam room).

First the good points. The room was excellent, overlooking the Grand Via and both spacious and clean. Good bathroom and efficient air conditioning.Secondly, the location is ideal and all the main Madrid sights are within easy walking distance. We had one evening meal which was very good and quite reasonably priced. However, breakfast was nothing short of a disaster on all four mornings. The food was consistently mediocre, the service poor, and the coffee making facilities were unbelievably bad. Of greater concern however, was the lack of hotel security. Three individuals walked in on one evening, sat down at a table for a few moments, and then disappeared with one of the guest's handbags. The hotel administration would accept no responsibility whatsoever. Potential guests should bare in mind that the hotel is less than a block away from a red light area. Definitely not four star.

This hotel markets itself as a 4 star hotel. Er, it is a 3 star, with issues. The hotel takes coach loads of tourists. So at any one time you can be competing with 50 or 100 other people. Whether it is reception or breakfast, it is likely to be crowded.
On our first night we wanted to eat in the restaurant. We could not. There were no staff and no one appeared to seat us. The restaurant was filled with a French tour group all fighting over the buffet. Breakfast is an exercise in elbow power as the buffet layout leads to chaos. When you get some breakfast food it is good. The staff work very hard, there just are not enough of them.
The room we had was OK. Small but clean and well decorated.

I stayed here with my son for three nights on a visit to watch Real Madrid play. Despite a poor start (we reserved a twin room but they didn't have one available when arrived), we enjoyed our stay mainly due to some of the very helpful and kind staff - a lady called Isabel (I think) particularly. The problem we had with the room was sorted the next day and we managed to get the twin beds in a lovely quiet room. The hotel itself is a little tired in places, but is clean and does the basics well. Breakfast was the only meal we had but was good in a canteen style. The location is great, easy to walk to most of the interesting parts of the city and close to a Metro station. Being on a main road does mean rooms at the front can be noisy. So in summary in a good location for a city visit, where you don't plan to spend much time there and use it mainly as a base.

Room Tip: Ask for a room at the side or back of the hotel if you need a quieter room.
