I have stayed at this hotel twice, once on business and once with family. Simply put this is the best possible location for Madrid as a tourist. It is across the street from the Prado and the Thyssen Bornezema. 5 minutes to the Atocha train station in a taxi or metro. 12 minutes to the Puerta Del Sol, and 15 minutes to the Plaza Mayor and Mercado San Miguel. It is maybe 20 minutes to the heart of La Latina. It is a grand old hotel with fully updated rooms with great bathrooms and plasma tvs. Wifi works well here. The buffet breakfast is pricey but elegant and great for choice. The ballroom they have it in is spectacular and a great way to start the day. There are many great Bars and tapas joints within 5 minutes walk. There is even a Starbucks built into the front side of the building.

Room Tip: Try to get a room facing the front and the Paseo Del Prado and the Neptune Fountain.

Comfortable, well equipped rooms with outstanding service. Great restaurant in the hotel too. Housekeeping staff goes well above and beyond. Loved the stay.

The Westin Madrid Palace is one of those lovely turn of the century (19th to 20th) hotels that embraced elegance in a way that made travelers feel like kings. The Westin's updates are all within the parameteres you would expect in carrying through with this theme. The beautiful glass dome over the dining room (visible from the lobby) is just a part of the overwhelming sense of old-fashioned elegance that reigns here.

This was our third visit--so we knew what to expect, but to our surprise and delight, we were given a suite on this occasion which had a powder room in addition to the bathroom. The parlor had a chandelier as well as a flat screen. So, for five days, we lived like royalty.

Be aware if you are a coffee lover and expect coffee amenities that there is no coffee pot and the nearest coffee spot is not in the lobby (no free lobby coffee) but around the corner, When we stayed before, they had coffee available on the SPG level for SPG guests, but the reservation clerk said that this was no longer the case. I did see a note by the phone (on the last day) saying that they would deliver a "free cup for two guests" for 4.25 euros.

The location is superb, especially for art lovers, given that the hotel is across from the Prado, the Thyssen and near the Sofia Reina. The Retiro park is also right at your door. The hop-on hop-off bus is right there as well and the Plaza San Anton which is the heart of tapas hopping is right around the corner. (Lateral was our favorite there. But also check out the flamenco show at the Villa Rosa, a bargain at 10 euros plus the cost of a relatively inexpensive dinner. Reserve for the best seats.)

The breakfast buffet was once better than it is now, but it is still quite good. Hopefully, it is included with your room since the posted prices are on the high side. The Westin has a coffee shop facing the street just around the corner and there are other restaurants close by.

Madrid is an elegant city and I can not think of a better hotel at which to stay to feel the ambiance of old-fashioned elegance, the kind once reserved for kings.

Great location for museums and a short walk to the central shopping area. Clean and comfortable with great food. A bit pricey for a holiday hotel but an excellent choice for business.

We stayed for 3 nights in March to celebrate our wedding anniversary. On checking in we asked for a room with a front view and we were duly obliged. The bedroom was a decent size but the best thing of the room was the view to the front and amazing beds. For $4000 you can buy the full bed and bedding!
Breakfast was a treat in an amazing room with huge coppula . Everything you could want to eat they had .
The hotel is so central , literally minutes from Prado Museum , shopping , parks , squares . All very easily walkable from the hotel. Concierge were helpful and organised a cycle tour through the local tourist information centre in Plaza Mayor.
Only down side was drink costs and snacks in bar . We paid about €80 euros for 2 sandwiches and a few drinks , seemed over the top.All in all though I would recommend this hotel to anyone staing in Madrid who is looking for a 5 star hotel.
If going back I would stay there again.

Room Tip: Ask for a view overlooking the front square. There also was a jazz band busking at the weekend so we...

This palace just celebrated its 100th year... and it's still grand and elegant and clean and new and very, very nice. The restaurant under the huge, ornate glass rotunda is an incredibly lovely setting... an incredible place to start the day with an impressive breakfast buffet.

For SPG members this property seems to always have at least a Jr suite upgrade available. The bathrooms are updated and the furniture is in good condition. Typical Westin bed set up
