This is a very nice hotel located at the best place in Madrid. At least if you came to enjoy the city. I would not call it a palace, but it definitely lives for a good 5* place. We got corporate discount, however, I would expect it to be really pricey. Nice service, beautiful rooms, clean. Everything you may need for a nice weekend at Madrid.

This hotel was located very centrally, ideal to explore the city of Madrid. The building is very classical, high ceilings, tapestry, antique-style furniture etc. Beds were comfortable, room large enough for 2 persons. Negative was the fact that wifi was not included in the rate, it cost €40 extra for 3 days - even though we were there for business (conference in the hotel). Our room was located all the way in the back, which was a long walk to where the staircase is (we were located on the 2nd floor, room 245). Reception personnel were friendly, but a bit slow - as we have experienced with many hotels in Spain. No pool but a fitness area, which we didn't have time to use.

The Westin Palace is a beautiful old (but renovated) hotel right across from the Prado and the Thyssen-Bornemisza museums. It's central location, which included being a short 15 minute walk from the Atocha train station and a 2 minute walk from the hop on/hop off bus ensured that we could easily walk where ever we wanted to go. There are many restaurants fairly close to the hotel and the area was very safe -- lots of police presence since it is near their parliament.
Service in the hotel was very good and courteous. However, the hotel is very busy so there was often a wait at reception or the concierge. Not a complaint -- just something to be aware of. The rooms were a good size, the gym was good and internet service was also solid.
Breakfast in the hotel was very pricy -- 22euro per person if reserved at checkin, more if not. This seemed too high but there are good alternatives, including a starbucks around the corner. We did do afternoon tea and tapas in the dining room, which was also pricey but lovely under the stained glass done.
Some small complaints -- while the rooms are very pretty, they didn't have as many plugs as needed for recharging all of our gadgets and also didn't have the coffee makers that we usually see in hotel rooms. They do offer one free cup of coffee or tea brought up to the room in lieu of this, I guess. But the complaints are minor compared to the great location and good service.

The hotel is perfectly located for all of the major tourist attractions ... the Prado is across the road ! Rooms are large and comfortable, the beds and linens are first-rate. Service is warm and efficient .. the child in our group was thoroughly spoilt, especially by Rosa at the breakfast service. Old world style with all mod cons ... I would definitely stay here again.

Will never stay anywhere else in Madrid. Marc Lannoy is the best manager I've ever dealt with in any hotel, Starwood or otherwise. Better than my stay at the St. Regis NYC. He really goes above and beyond.

Service is exceptionally fast. Call for anything: they'll have it to you in 5 minutes or less.

Rooms are spacious, well laid out, and beautifully furnished. Great bathrooms, too.

Fantastic. Enough said!
