The Westin Palace is a great hotel in a great location in Madrid. We arrived about mid day and our room was ready and we were quickly checked in. the staff was helpful and responsive even tho this is one busy hotel. once you leave the lobby, the hectic pace of Madrid seemed to fade away and we settled in for a nice 3 day stay.

With so many things to do and see it can be a bit daunting to decide what to do first but tranquillo amigo just go with the flo. we came with a list of what to see and do and it turns out we only did one thing (Retiro Parque which is huge and delightful) but it really was the Old Town which is right out the back of the hotel that held our attention. each small street and alley held something neat and enjoyable. a stroll one way or another lead to an open plaza which held a delightful slice of life in Madrid.

We had them include breakfast in our rate (@ a slight discount) which we enjoyed. The service as well as the food was 1st rate and complimented the experience. we also enjoyed an evening meal for their special Bocuse d Or menu. great meal well served.

My only beef such as it is is the lack of even one US television entertainment offering (maybe A&E of TNT) just so we could decompress and veg out @ the end of a long but enjoyable day. but hey i guess that is why we go to other countries to experience something out of our comfort zone.

Room Tip: Ask for and inside room they are very quite.

The Westin Palace is an outstanding luxury collection hotel. We were there for a conference but booked our room separately, as all too often conference organisers book the cheapest (and worst) rooms. Platinum membership was recognised before we arrived, with a couple of nice e mails from their Westin Experience Specialist Aurelia Pareja asking whether we had any special needs, and recognised again on check in. Aurelia made a point of ensuring we were being looked after, and we certainly were, with our beautiful room overlooking the Neptuna fountain. The suite itself was remarkably well sound proofed...even 30,000 celebrating soccer fans could scarcely be heard from inside.
The location is perfect, only steps away from the Prado, just across the road from the Thyssen Museum, and if you're enthusiastic, walking distance from the Plaza Mayor (though I preferred a cab) and most other Madrid attractions..
The breakfast buffet, served in the Rotonda under one of the most magnificient glass domes, was first rate, but nothing could compare with the Sunday brunch buffet, with a fine and varied selection of food, cava and, best of all, an Operatic duet who serenaded the room for an hour.
Just around the corner and a short walk away are a number of bars, cafes, ristorantes, varying from fair to good, but most of the time we dined in the Asian Gallery, which was sort of fusion Asian with a Spanish accent. Recommend the sea bass.
We've been to Madrid several times before, staying in boutique hotels which were nice, but nothing compares with the Palace. If only we could have taken it with us. From check in to check out everything worked perfectly, and if every luxury collection hotel in the Starwood chain was as good life would be heavenly. If we go back to Madrid we'll certainly be staying there.

the best location for the city. A little bit of a trek by metro from the airport, but if you come in by rail the station is close. love the rooftop deck and health club with great views. Was starwood upgraded, so I don't know what my actual room would have been, but the price was right. The room had beautiful woodwork and built ins that had great patina and class. Realizing I was a non native Spanish speaker they helped me with directions reservations and did everything a great hotel should.

The place place to stay when visiting Madrid is in the heart of the city. It is easy to maneuver, find great places to eat, and most importantly make sure you are in a safe area when visiting somewhere you are not intimately familiar with. The Westin Palace offers this at an affordable price. Hotels in Madrid are expensive but this hotel was reasonable and the rooms were well kept. The property itself is beautiful an old spanish palace it has a feel as if you are yourself royalty for the night. Make sure to have a coffee (not cheap but worth it) under the gold dome of the center atrium during your stay. The staff was very helpful in giving us suggestions for sightseeing and one gentleman at the front even helped us score Real Madrid tickets.

I booked our stay at the Westin using cash & points and that was one of the best stays i've ever experienced! It was flawless from check-in to check-out. Marcelo Bolis at the front desk is the epitome of excellent customer service!!! He made our stay at the Westin extra special and I will not think twice to stay there again. Thank you , Marcelo!
The hotel is walking distance to everywhere---Puerta del Sol, Plaza Santa Ana, Gran Via, Plaza Mayor..etc.. The rooms are big compared to the usual European hotel rooms and the restaurants are so great!
I will definitely stay here again!

Room Tip: Request for a room on the higher floors.
