Amazingly beautiful hotel, in a amazing, central location. During our trip to Spain we stayed here twice, upon our arrival and during the last few days of our trip. Upon our arrival we were upgraded from a junior suite to an executive suite, which was very nice and very spacious. The second time we stayed we had a basic room, but it had a spectacular view. Besides the lack of small detailing the rooms were great. The hotel is central to many great sites, including right across the street from the Prado Museum.

As many people have said, great central location, comfy beds, clean, nice buffet breakfast option. There is a charge for in-room Wifi (free only to difficult to attain) highest reward level. Wifi is free in the lobby and business center. Loved the hair dryer in the bathroom - good quality.

Room Tip: 2nd floor was nice - we didn't have to use the elevator

this is one of the more memorable Westin to stay at.
The lobby and the restaurant are beautiful in the grand European tradition. In the same tradition the rooms are shabby but not at this Westin. Rooms are full of light and smell fresh. Staff is really welcoming and the hotel is comfortable and relaxing.
Walking distance to night life, step away from Prado and Reina Sofia, you are all set.

The terrace at the roof top is a joke though.
The breakfast could do with a better chef, making eggs is really not that difficult.

This was my third stay at this hotel, although not for several years.

Whether for business or tourism, the location is fantastic. It's walking distance to all the main attractions, near the metro and is a historic hotel. It is beautifully decorated and has clearly thought about how to mix the historic elements with some necessary updates.

The standard rooms aren't huge, but about right for an urban hotel. There is a small gym with up to date equipment. The bar is popular and nice for a nightcap.

Unfortunately, that isn't quite enough. The service was a major let down for a 5 star hotel. On 3 occasions in 4 days I had to walk to reception to get a problem taken care of. It took 4 requests over 2.5 hours to get a roll-away bed for my son (which was also requested when reserved). Later when I wanted to place a room-service order no one picked up the phone despite several calls over half an hour. And on check-out the reception staff made an honest mistake which was fine, but gave me attitude about it. It sounds picky, but not too impressive for a regular traveler. Oh, and my hotel pet peeve: paying for WiFi.

The only meal we had was the buffet breakfast. It was decidedly average. Service was good, but the hot food was cold on multiple occasions and the selection wasn't that great.

I imagine the hotel is nicer during the winter season when it reverts to more of a business hotel. That was my previous experience.

If you get a great deal, go for it. Otherwise, splurge and go to the Ritz across the street.

Another Westin... these are great places to stay. The only small complaint I have is that we got there about 3 hours before check in and succumbed to the "you can upgrade for 39 Euros a night" if you want to check in now... which really was just a regular room.. but it was a ver long flight :) .... The place is great, beds in the Westins are the best... I have stayed in these in several countries and you just can't beat the beds.... The shower was nice... fantastic location.... we were able to walk to a lot of the museums from this location.... the staff is plenty helpful and nice... I would definitely invest in the breakfast again... didn't see one that could match it in Europe.... overall excellent stay ... excellent property....

Room Tip: Like I said.. the breakfast is definitely a highlight... no ice machines... they brought it right up...

The Westin Palace in Madrid is one of my favorites. The lobby bar is inside a large conservatory and makes for a great place to enjoy a drink or meal.
Centrally located close to many of Madrid's highlights.
