The first impression of the hotel is a great ,we stayed two nights we were not lucky as we where given ground room which is ok but location is lousy ,you can't use the internet on your mobil or I pad because the reception is hardly any thing , we travel with our children they are adult 26 ,24they also gave them a room it seem to be for special need people which they did not inform us as the bathroom was equipped accordingly , I checked with the front office lady and was told no it's a normal room, also told them about the internet . We went to use the sauna you need to call the reception 25 minutes a head of time to get it .
Location just great it's about 20 minutes to madrid centre walking , by taxi it's about 7 minutes if the traffic is ok it will cost about 7 euro

Dear Ghosheh-sana,

Greetings from Madrid and thank you very much for sharing your experiences at our hotel with others!!
We are glad to hear that you enjoyed your time with us while your stay in Madrid. The room that you mention follows all the requirements of a normal standard room, sorry for any inconvenience this may caused you.
Regarding the sauna, we usually follow that procedure in the fitness area to make them ready once you get there.

Once again thank you very much and we hope to see you soon again in Madrid!
Have a great day!

Best regards,

The Santo Mauro Team

A real palace in the centre of chic Madrid, located in a quiet residential area but only 5 minutes walk to deluxe shopping and major monuments the Santo Mauro is areal gem of a luxury hotel. Wonderful trendy but chic decoration, I had great and comfortable room with deluxe toiletries from London. I enjoyed the breakfast very much as well as the bar. Staff at the desk was most helpful and professional (and very stylish)

as one can see i travel more than i am at home.and i like to change hotels, just to get to know better neighbourhoods. i stayed for just one day in this astonishingly beautiful hotel in upscale chamberi ,madrid and actually felt sorry to leave ,but i already had my hilton airport hotel booked which is in no way comparable to this fantastic place.
the building used to be the philippine embassy, an 18 century palace, the decoration is tremendously beautiful and everyone,i mean everyone is kind and helpful.light effects, neo classical decoration, chandeliers galore in a beautiful atmosphere.when i stayed they had a party in the garden, unfortunately they had their noisy children with them and in spain their bedtime seems to be 1 am but that is not the hotel's fault:) what a shame the hilton is,compared to this but okay. just a 2 minute walk to paseo de la castellana, 5 minutes to plaza colon. very secure area since madrid's most expensive squaremeter has been sold in this area in 2012 :) . embassies and upscale people everywhere. what a treat. not cheap, paid like 300 us but well, well worth it. good ,well decorated rooms, clean, nice tvs and meticulously maintained pretty. really a treat. if you can afford it stay in this one. really nice.
only a stroll to calle serrano and ortega y gasset where you might succumb to vuitton and chanel:)
i will certainly come back and discard the hilton for good :)

My husband and I stayed at the Hotel Santo Mauro last week. It is a beautiful hotel, decorated very nicely. Our room was large, beautiful and comfortable with a view of the gardens. The gardens, where breakfast was served, was lovely. The location is off the beaten path in a quiet, residential neighborhood, not an easy walk anywhere but a short cab ride to most areas. We were a little bit disappointed when we asked for ice one day and they said they would bring it to our room, when they did, there was a 5 euro charge! Wow, I have never paid that much for ice in my life. Overall, it was very nice and I would stay there again although I would have preferred to be walking distance to places that i wanted to see.

Roomy and comfortable suites in a smaller boutique hotel. Staff is friendly, plentiful and quite accommodating. My absolute only complaint is that while wifi is (mostly) available in public areas, it is only available without cost in the rooms for upper level Reward program members; however, it is quite costly to purchase if you want in-room access. I would definitely stay here again!

I stayed in the Santo Mauro for a week and every moment was a pleasure. First, it is a small hotel, the former seat for a Duke, so it is quiet and never crowded. Second, there were plenty of staff available to take care of anything needed. Third, the security was the best with a wall around it and one gated entrance.

The location is in a quiet neighborhood with a number of excellent restaurants within a close walk. The major tourist attractions are a little further away, but if you don't mind walking and aren't in a hurry, it's fine, and there are always taxis in front of the hotel.

The hotel is set up so that the main floor of the Duke's house is available to the guests with beautiful original old world elegance and every room is in different colors and décor. There's a bar, a dining room, and three other rooms where you can just hang out. In the basement there's a nice spa and pool. The rooms are on the second floor and in a newer adjacent addition. I stayed in the addition and my room had three large sections. The largest was the sleeping and sitting area and everything was spread out so you did not feel cramped, plus the room had very high ceilings. The next part was the dressing room and it was nearly as large as a standard city single hotel room. The third room was a large bathroom, all in marble, which had separate tub and shower and the shower was like a small marble room. Similar to the shower was the marble room for the toilet and bidet. Then the long counter had two sinks.

My only regrets are that I was there in March and the Madrid weather was unusually cold, so the small garden was closed. I bet it was beautiful by the end of April. Second, I used the dining room for breakfast and the bar for cocktails and espresso, but never ate dinner there.

Room Tip: If it's a romantic get-a-way, I'd suggest staying in the main house. If you need a little m...

We had a couple days in madrid and wanted to see the city. This is a great location to get the hop on hop off bus, metro and all other transportation. A bit pricy for guest parking. The room was very clean, and comfortable. The pool in the basement was very nice. The staff were very friendly and redy to help point you in the right direction for what you want to do. The grounds were emaculate and welcoming.
