A lovely park to rest up and recharge your batteries, while watching the world go by. Plus if your still feeling energetic there is a lake where you can hire boats. It's beautifully kept and nicely laid out.

Is this the best park of any city in Europe - quite possibly. Rates as one of my very favourites. Its large, well maintained and at least in mid June wasn't that crowded. A great running track around it (about 5kms).

I live in Madrid, just close to the Retiro Park. I have been many times there, specially when I need to relax and think. It is really amazing place to walk alone, or with friends, family. A good ambient for all kind of visit: family, couples, alone...
If you want to find it more tranquil, then don't go to this park on weekends. And if you go to visit it on weekend, then don't go by car, it is almost impossible to park around this area.

If you have time then this is a must go place. The park is very well designed and well conserved. You can spend from 20 min to some hours there depending on what you want to do.
