“Lovely park”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 18 August 2014

I love the Retiro, much of it is really peaceful, even in tourist season! Take a look at the Crystal Palace (featuring rocking chairs with books attached). There's a gallery space in the centre which was hosting a free exhibition when we were there. Don't miss the very reasonably priced row boat hire in the pond. Be warned, there's no nice quality food to be had within the park though.

“The ideal place to wind down after visiting museums”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 18 August 2014

Parque del Retiro is ideal to walk around or just sit and relax while watching the lake. You can ride a boat or go cycling or roller-skating if you want to do some exercise. Otherwise, it is well worth walking and getting to know the various landscapes this park can offer. Don't miss it!

“My favorite spot in the city”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 18 August 2014

Retiro Park is gorgeous. I visited on a bicycle tour and went back another day with a book to read and just relax in the park. It's bigger than you think it's going to be so make sure you see all of it. I met people on the bike tour who had only visited the exterior and were surprised at how much they had missed when they came back. I would really like to go back with a blanket and some picnic food and spend the afternoon reading in the shade.

“Beautiful Park, a Must See!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 17 August 2014

I had long been told to stop by Parque del Retiro before heading to Madrid as people have told us it is comparable to Central Park in NYC, where we are from. As someone who loves my own city, I have to say... I think this park is even more beautiful than Central Park could ever be! Do be sure to stop and see the Crystal Palace. At the time we went it was not open for visitors inside, but just seeing it from the outside was amazing. The lake in the center of the park is a perfect resting spot and photo opportunity. The whole park is pretty amazing, and we spent over an hour wandering the premises. Lovely!

“Perfect way to spend a Sunday”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 17 August 2014 via mobile

A beautiful park with a wonderful boating lake. You can hire a boat for €7.50 for 45 mins and it really is worth doing as a couple or with family. The only downside is there is nowhere good to eat, all cheap hot dogs and frozen pizza. Apart from that it really is a place to visit.
