The location is excellent, just adjacent to a square with bars and restaurants, and within walking distance of all the major attractions and close to the underground. The hotel itself is a bit of a mixed bag. The lobby and breakfast room is pleasant and looks to have been fairly recently updated. Our particular room was fairly sparse on first appearances, with no natural light and poor electric lighting, and seemed a bit depressing. However, it was clean and had all the facilities you would need. The free wifi worked all the time, and the breakfast (included with our room rate) was pretty decent. The staff were all friendly and welcoming. I'd recommend this hotel if you just need a base and somewhere to sleep on a short break - it's nothing special but perfectly adequate given the price, and the location is hard to beat.

This hotel is really nice. The rooms are very simply furnished and not very spacious but the staff is really friendly and helpful, the breakfast is good and it is avery central hotel at a reasonable price.
It is quiet, away from the noiseespecially if you ask for a room looking onto the courtyard.
The bed is small but really comfortable.

Room Tip: A room looking onto the courtyard

This hostel is not the typical hostel you may imagine. The place is very nice from the inside and outside and has a great location. A few blocks away from Puerta de Sol which is the central part of Madrid. Around the hostel you have restaurants, bars, clubs, and stores. The staff is friendly and the place is clean. Had a good experience.

Let me start by saying that this is not your typical hostel, at least the way we americans thinks about hostels. This is a 3 start hotel with a privilege location just next to Plaza Angel. It is located 3 blocks away from Plaza del Sol and the subway station, and steps away from Plaza Santa, Plaza Mayor Ana and Plaza Jacinto Benavente. There are tons of restaurants, pubs, bars and places to hangout steps from the hotel. I think we went to at maximum 10% of all the restaurants/bars/cervecerias just in this area. As you can see, location-wise, this place is perfect.

The outside of the hotel and the lobby area seems that were renovated recently. We were four in our group, so we asked for a double bedroom. We got exactly that, two bedrooms that shared a bathroom. The rooms were of decent sized (again, not Texas style rooms) and very clean, although the decor was dated. We didn't mind that because we were barely in the room.

For as good the location is, it is also the course of the place. The plazas around the hostel are never empty. Well, let me correct that, one could barely see people in those plazas at around 7 am when all the spaniards go home to get a nap and start their day. We got rooms that faced Plaza Angel. The noise at night (between 11 pm and 5 am) would be unbearable for a light sleeper.Because we were walking and drinking and eating all day and night long, we would get to the room so tired that the noise didn't affect us, although it woke us up several times. So be aware that if you need your beauty sleep, this may not be the place for you or ask for a room that doesn't face the plaza.

Overall, great place to stay as it is close to major attractions and walking distance from all the restaurants/bars/cervecerias and many other things that one would like to see and go when in Madrid. The four start rating is because of the noise and the dated decor (although this part is not very important for me).

Room Tip: If you are a light sleeper, ask for a room that doesn't face the Plaza. If you want to vein the...

This hotel is in a great location! Very close to Plaza Mayor and Puerta del Sol yet away from the large crowds. Easy walking to attractions, shopping and metro stop. The rooms are very basic but clean. Bathroom a bit small and it would have been nice to have shelves for personal toiletries. Overall, this hotel met our needs and would definitely recommend to anyone wishing to stay in central Madrid. Staff was friendly and helpful.

Room Tip: Rooms with balcony are nice, however, could be a little loud at night. Request an interior room for...

We arrived late after calling ahead to let them know and they were ready for us with the paperwork on the counter. The staff all spoke English and were very helpful with directions, help getting a shuttle to the airport and a wake-up call that was a real person. The breakfast was the same each morning, but there were choices if you wanted to have variety. We always were full when leaving and it tasted good. Everything was clean and there was a spaciousness about the hostal. It was only two stars and it was better than most two star hotels in our opinion.

We cannot wait for our next trip to Spain and we know where we will stay in Madrid.

Room Tip: We were in room 417D and it was quiet, roomy, and a "real" double bed, not the typical Spa...

This hostal is more than the usual. It is very centrally located, close to all the attractions and once you get a sense of direction, easy to navigate from. The staff were very attentive, polite and helpful. We sent a package ahead of time that they held until our arrival. They knew us and we felt secure because they attended the desk 24h and handled the key to our room. The rooms are small bur clean and well kept. Bathroom ok and good water pressure in shower. We had a balcony facing the plaza which was nice for us to overlook but also with the balcony doors closed, blocked the noise so we could sleep. The first day the elevator was out but we used the stair climbing to the 4 th floor as a fitness excuse. The breakfast was great, many choices, kept fresh and refilled often. The attendants in the room kept the place very clean and were very diligent about keeping things tidy and cleared away.

Overall, great place, more than a hostal, good value for your money and very well located. Thanks for helping our stay in Madrid be great!
