Owner description: The Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum offers visitors an overview of art from the 13th century to the late 20th century. In the nearly one thousand works on display, visitors can contemplate the major periods and pictorial schools of western art such as the Renaissance, Mannerism, the Baroque, Rococo, Romanticism and the art of the 19th and 20th centuries up to Pop Art. The museum also features works from some movements not represented in state-owned collections, such as Impressionism, Fauvism, German Expressionism and the experimental avant-garde movements of the early 20th century. In addition, it boasts an important collection of 19th-century American painting not found in any other European museum institutions.

If you are a fan of impressionist and post impressionist arts, don’t miss this place. You will enjoy arts produced by masters like Monet, Regas, Manet, Cezanne, Picasso, Van Gogh and many others. Excellent collection! Thank you for sharing your arts, Baroness Carmen Thyssen-Bornemisza.

The museum has a great collection of all the great masters. The paintings are displayed very nicely with proper lighting.
Surely comparable to the Prado.

In addition to the fact that this museum has wonderful painting on all three levels, I was lucky enough to catch the exhibition of Sorolla and Fashion which shows the presence of fashion in Sorolla's work through the portraits he painted at the end of the 19th and beginning of the 20th century. The clothing was shown together with the portraits painted.
Like the other Madrid museums we receive a booklet with the main paintings from the galleries- but there were so many more beautiful works on display. The paintings were from the 17th century through the 20th- from the Dutch of Remrandt to Roy Lichtenstein , Kandinsky and Dali-not to forget the sculpture of Rodin and the Impressionists. Definitely not to be missed.
