My husband and I got a deal for a room with a terrace. That's really worth the extra few Euros! Despite facing the street, it was quiet. Spacious, clean, great big bathroom with big shower. Beds were really good to sleep in. The breakfast was at a discount - 10 euros for a really good choice - absolutely recomended. Location is excellent - within walking distance from main attractions and city hall and main square. Sure enough, as some else her is stating, there is a bit rough neighborhood close by, but nothing you won't find in any city and we felt safe all the time! And also easy to avoid, by the way.

Internet connection sucked - had to log on every single time I opened my I-pad... Only other little annoying thing was that one of the people in the reception was not very serviceminded. My luggage was lost by the airline and arrived later. The driver called me and said that the hotel reception had no one with my name. This was despite that I had been down there to make sure they could receive it while I was out. Fair enough mistake, but receptionist didn't apologise, just insinuated that I didn't tell them (which I did!). But no big deal, just annoying when you are jet-lagged and want fresh clothes from your luggage... :-)

Absolutely a place I will bothg recomend and go back to!

Room Tip: Upgrade to terrace room!

Dear Madam,

Your review is extremely kind. Thank you very much indeed. Two small things: the reason why you had to connect to the internet network every time is due to the way the system works. If all the rooms were connected at the same time the speed would be rather slow. What the system does is disconnecting automatically everyone who is not using the Internet to keep an acceptable speed level for those who are using it at the moment. Regarding the situation with our Reception, and even understanding that it was a misunderstanding, I ask you to accept our apologies. I will transmit your complaints to our Front Desk Manager, who will make his best to avoid this kind of mistakes in the future. Thank you again for your kindness. Best regards from Madrid.

We had an absolutely wonderful stay here. The room was perfect, temperature was perfect all the time, bathroom nice and big, everything in working order, attractive decor. The staff was also very nice to us -- greeting us, but not accosting us. :-) We had the menu del dia one day in the restaurant and I was very impressed, interesting dishes very well presented. Location is excellent, you can walk to all the major touristic areas, and you can take the subway easily to further out places. It is also close to the Atocha train station if you need to take a train further out (and that is the most convenient place to get a train to the airport, without having to change trains). (Someone posted that it is a difficult uphill walk from the train station to the hotel -- I beg to differ, yes it goes up a little bit in elevation but it is not a big deal at all!) Management of the hotel is really on top of things, as I'm sure you can see from the responses to the posts here. I would return to this hotel in a heartbeat!

We stayed at this hotel for the day before our flights from Madrid To USA. We arrived early from the train station and found it eventually and were able to store our luggage for a few hours as check in was after lunch. The directions to the hotel are NOT accurate. We were quoted from the booking agent only 500 metresfrom train station. It is more like 2000 metres and when you eventually find the street after zig zagging your way over zebra crossings you then have a BIG hill too climb, and if you have heavy luggage it is hard work. It is easier to get a taxi!
The rooms were fantastic and bathroom and shower were amazing. They have a roof terrace with juccuzzi were you get great views of the city. We never used the bar, but we did have breakfast in the morning, which we thought was expensive for a buffet breakfast.
The hotel was ok for a stop over and did the job, but not for me.

Dear Guest,

Thank you for having used your valuable time in writing your kind opinion, it always helps us a lot. By the way, we are glad you had a nice stay overall. But we wonder which way you followed to get the hotel. The distance from Atocha Station to the hotel on foot is exactly one kilometer (you can check this point using one of these apps like google maps or a GPS), not two. This is an affordable distance to do it on foot (12 minutes approximately) unless you carry a heavy luggage. As you mention, in the way to the hotel from Atocha Station you have to walk up the hill. That is why we always recommend the use of public transport in order to get the hotel from Atocha Station if you are travelling with a heavy luggage. There is a direct Subway connection (blue line, only two stops, Anton Martin Station). The way back to Atocha on foot is much easier, as you walk down the hill. So our advise for our guests would be to take a taxi / subway in the arrival day and to go back on foot in departure date. We look forward to seeing you again soon. Best regards from Madrid.

We stayed 3 nights in a 5th floor room giving on to the interior courtyard. The spacious modern room was very quiet and had a room safe, modern en suite - no bath but an excellent walk in shower. Pleasant sunny roof terrace with Jacuzzi. The buffet breakfast was on promotion at 10 euros and was decent value for money considering the high quality of the food on offer but I think I would be reluctant to pay the full price when there is so much competition in the adjoining streets. Similarly for the hotel bar, nice enough but a typical rather soulless place whereas you can cross the road and drink with the locals at the Museo de Jamon (a stand up bar offering cheap beers and tasty ham snacks) or in a wide variety of tapas bars. Well placed for a five minute walk to the Prado. Yes the Calle de Atochas is a bit seedy near the railway station but it gets better as you approach the hotel which is only 5-10 minutes from a number of attractions: Plaza Mayor, Royal Palace etc etc. I would use this chain again when returning to Madrid and book direct to take advantage of welcome drink/late check out

Room Tip: Upper floor rooms giving on to interior courtyard are very quiet.

We just got back from our second stay in Catalonia Atocha and it was as good as we remembered. The rooms are clean and modern with firm beds, the staff is friendly and pretty much everything you want to see or do is within walking distance. Good value for money!

we stayed here for 2 nights and liked this place a lot. 10 min walk to Sol and 5 min to Atocha station - almost in the very center while not in the middle of the crowd. Very clean and tidy - seems to be very new or renovated recently.
and the most important - it provides a great sleep quality - it is very quite.

A perfect sleep quality. This should be the main objective for any hotel in the world. We did our best: acoustic doors, thick windows, isolating material in floors and ceilings, special mattresses 32 cm high instead of 25 cm (standard high), different kinds of pillows...And we are glad to see that our guests appreciate our efforts. Thank you very much indeed for your kindness. Best regards.

Stayed here for 3 nights. Good position for museums, parks and other main attractions. Unfortunately the hotel is situated in a slightly seedy street but it is modern and very well cared for by staff. The hotel is sparkling clean. The staff at reception and everywhere else were very helpful and always friendly. Because my room was off the central core of the hotel and only had two very small windows it was a bit dark. The grey/beige colour scheme and lighting didn't help with this. However, the facilities were very good and there is a great view of the city from the roof terrace and a jacuzzi if you fancy a plunge.
My only real complaint is that they charged me separately on my credit card for the 2 rooms i had booked so I incurred the exchange rate charge twice which is a bit annoying.

Room Tip: Rooms off the inner core might be brighter. 6th floor was quiet whilst I was staying there.

Dear guest,

We are happy to know that you liked the hotel so much. I am specially glad for your nice words about the Staff. Regarding the credit card fee that your bank is charging you as money exchange rate, we are a bit surprised: as far as we know they should charge you according to the total amount, not the number of operations...Anyway, just in case, from now on we will proceed in a different way and we will make just one charge per reservation, not per room. Thank you for letting us know about this bank procedure.
Once again, thank you very much indeed for your nice review.
